Typically, there are few easier celebrities to write about than Megan Fox.

We cite a couple controversial quotes by the actress, post a few scantily-clad pictures of her and watch as women write in to bash her and men write in to say what they want to do to her.

It's a classic formula, but it's one that's been disrupted by a new feature on Fox: she's the focus of a lengthy article in The New York Times Magazine. No offense Maxim, but that's a real, respected publication!

The latest issue describes Fox as "a devoted student of stardom, past and present, she knows how to provide her own color commentary — a narrative to go with the underwear."

The magazine goes on to detail various quotes by the star, stating none were accidental. As the author puts it, Fox understands that "noise plus naked equals celebrity."

But her celebrity is in jeopardy, considering the lack of box office success for Jennifer's Body, as well as a growing backlash from her own gender.

“Women tear each other apart,” Fox said. “Girls think I’m a slut, and I’ve been in the same relationship since I was 18. The problem is, if they think you’re attractive, you’re either stupid or a whore or a dumb whore. The instinct among girls is to attack the jugular.”

It's hard to argue with that, as anyone that's attended middle school can attest to.

Throughout the very long article, Fox goes on to talk about her public persona, comparisons to Angelina Jolie and more. Here are a few excerpts from the piece:

Fortunately, the magazine has been kind enough to release a series of outtakes from the shoot, as the pictures below somehow did not make it into the print issue.

In these shots, Fox is even hotter than the sizzling frying pan of bacon in front of her. We have no idea if she actually eats breakfast this way, but we do know this much: we've never been so jealous of a kitchen counter...

She'll likely get criticized for speaking her mind, but Megan Fox makes an admission in Great Britian's Skymag that few stars would make. She says:

“I’ve always laughed at actresses who complain about having to do sexy roles when they’re starting out. Who are they kidding? That’s the key to getting attention and moving on to better things."

It's hard to argue with that point. While it would be nice to live in a society that didn't initially judge people on their looks, that simply isn't the case these days.

Fortunately for us, Fox is willing to pose naked in order to be noticed and, therefore, land major film roles. She makes money. Men drool. Everyone wins!

Fox added that her openness about sex and nudity is based on her background.

“I grew up with this rebellious streak of not wanting to conform. I was sent to this strict Christian school that I hated and we were all told that the theory of evolution was wrong and sex was wrong. It was a nightmare.

“Women are supposed to project their sexuality, yet there’s this strange stigma when it comes to talking about sex. I’m not afraid to say how much I enjoy sex. I’m not shy.”

On paper, this match-up seems like more of a mismatch than Lindsay Lohan versus mental stability.

There was a new Megan Fox at this year's Spike TV Scream Awards.

First, the actress took a moment to backtrack on any criticism she has directed at Michael Bay and the Transformers franchise. Upon receiving her Best Sci-Fi Actress award, Fox said:

"There have been a lot of false reports concerning how I feel about this movie and I just want to be very clear that I've always felt that I am a very ordinary part of an extraordinary film. These movies took me out of obscurity and they gave me a career and I am completely grateful to everyone involved with this franchise."

The gorgeous actress also rocked a new hairstyle.

That said, it was only a matter of time until she got paid to disrobe for a lingerie campaign. Megan will replace Victoria Beckham as the body face of Armani.

Victoria's husband, David Beckham, was booted on the men's side in favor of Cristiano Ronaldo. Safe to say they're at least trading laterally if not up!

Fox will also star in a new Armani Jeans campaign, though pictures of Megan in jeans will likely inspire less saliva. And online searches for Megan Fox nude.

The 23-year-old has already posed for the underwear shoot, with black and white photos set to launch in both print ad and billboard form early next year.

It's official: there will be a third Transformers movie.

Despite critical lambasting and lukewarm audience reaction, there was never really any doubt that another film in this franchise would be made.

Now, director Michael Bay has announced the movie's release date on his blog, penning:

We have a great Transformers 3 story. The release date is now July 1st, 2011. Not 2012. Today is Day One. This morning started with an ILM meeting for five hours in San Francisco. Currently I’m flying with writer Ehren Kruger to Rhode Island to talk to Hasbro about new characters.

One key character will return, however: Bay went out of his way to welcome Megan Fox back into the role of Mikaela Banes. There's been tension between director and actress since she compared him to Hitler. He wrote:

Megan Fox, welcome back. I promise no alien robots will harm you in any way during the production of this motion picture. Please consult your Physician when working under my direction because some side effects can occur, such as mild dizziness, intense nausea, suicidal tendencies, depression, minor chest hair growth, random internal hemorrhaging and inability to sleep.

That was the joke behind the actress' monologue as host of Saturday Night Live this weekend, at least, as Fox pretended that clearly photoshopped pics of herself online we, indeed, valid.

This gave hope to 13-year old boys around the country and provided a funny start to the star's decent turn on the sketch comedy show.

Megan Fox has said that director Michael Bay is like Hitler and that women are in charge of men, due to the power of their vaginas.

Still, she may have uttered her silliest, most ironic quote in the October issue of Nylon.

The actress covers that publication's It Girl edition and says in it:

"I think that I'm really overexposed... I don't want to be in magazines every week and on the Internet everyday. I don’t want to have people get completely sick of me before I’ve ever even done something legitimate."

That legitimate act might actually take place this weekend, as Fox hosts Saturday Night Live. But telling a magazine that you don't want to be in magazines is more ironic that rain on one's wedding day.

However, this much is certain: the actress is hosting the season premiere of Saturday Night Live this week.
