So much for that new beginning, we guess.
Based on a couple of recent social media posts, it sure looks to us as if Kody Brown and Meri Brown are stuck in their challenging past.
The question now remains: Will they ever be able to move forward?
Just a few days ago, Meri appeared to take a pretty clear shot at her fellow Sister Wives after they failed to help her open up a bed and breakfast.
And after they failed, in general in her opinion, to support their fellow wife in any way at all.
“I wish more women realized that helping another woman win, cheering her on, praying for her, or sharing a resource with her, does NOT take away from the blessings coming to them," Brown shared on Instagram, adding at the time:
"In fact, the more you give, the more you receive. Empowering women doesn’t come from selfishness but rather from selflessness."
Really, is there any way to read this quote aside from it being a major jab from Meri to Janelle, Robyn and Christine?
It certainly seems as if Kody has intepreted it in this way.
Shortly after Meri posted the above message, the Sister Wives patriarch seemingly clapped back as follows:
Bitterness is the undoing of creativity.
Thus, a poet allows his blood to sweeten with pain.
May all pain sweeten your blood so you will access Source Energy and find Peace.
Not exactly the most straightforward post, we know, but it sounds very much as if Kody thinks Meri is being bitter and harsh in her assessment of her fellow Sister Wives -- and he thinks she should cut it out.
This back-and-forth comes amidst new chatter that Kody is very unhappy in his marriage.
Or his marriages, we ought to write.
The reality star has been spotted without his wedding ring on of late and various outlets have alleged that he's been flirting up a storm with other women.
Such rumors have existed for years, of course, because this does seem to be an unhealthy relationship for the four women at the center of it.
However, Kody himself has finally acknowledged that not everything is perfect.
"What we've had to do is discover our new baseline," Kody said a few weeks back during a Sister Wives tell-all special, referring to the issues he has faced with Meri and adding:
"Every marriage has a baseline, and it gently changes through the years for most people... Meri and I had an abrupt change. Different culture, Different religious values, we might have just [gotten a divorce], but we're fortunate enough to be blessed to be a part of a family that is its own culture.
"So we continue to move forward working on that, steadily moving in a direction where we're just fully mended."
Meri echoed this same sentiment on the same episode, but she did not sound very convincing while doing so.
"You have to figure out a way almost to just cut it off and just be dead," Meri said of her beliefs about her marriage before her infamous catfishing scandal. "I honestly have had to mourn what is gone."
Still, she insisted on air:
"I'm looking at a future as well. I am, and I have a lot of hope for what could be."
