Some believe that Miley Cyrus called Ed Sheeran an a--hole while he was walking up to accept the VMA for Best Male Video on Sunday night.

Miley Cyrus Calls Ed Sheeran an A-hole?

It's hard to tell from the GIF above, but those who have rewound the clip obsessively, as well as a few anonymous sources in the crowd swear that Miley let the a-word fly.

In fact, just about everyone acknowledges that Miley talked smack to Ed Sheeran...except for Ed Sheeran.

"Well, I don't know why people were expecting it," said Sheeran in response to the observation that he high-fived Scooter Braun on his way to the stage, but seemed to dodge Miley.

"There was a high-five between me and Scooter because I know him. And that was the only high-five."

Asked whether or not Miley called him any names during his time in the spotlight, Sheeran cleverly dodged the question:

It's been a tough week for Miley Cyrus.

First, she watched as Nicki Minaj knocked her from the VEVO record books, with "Anaconda" racking up more views in 24 hours than Miley's video for "Wrecking Ball."

Next, she sat back and watched as the media uncovered a lot of dirt on her homeless friend, Jesse Helt, such pending warrants for his arrest.

Now, some elementary school student named Sean Coyle has released his cover of "Wrecking Ball," one that uses only a recorder and which may just be better than Miley's original.

Listen and decide for yourself:

At the very least, we’re impressed that Coyle can play more than just “Hot Cross Buns” on this musical instrument.

In case you're not already aware: Miley Cyrus brought a "homeless" man to the MTV Video Music Awards as part of her annual stunt spectacular and it backfired in countless ways:

For starters, no one explained to Miley that when people use the term "homeless youth" they're not referring to 22-year-old unemployed models.

Yes, Jesse Helt was never homeless. This, according to his mother who says Jesse had a home and family waiting for him in Salem, Oregon, should he ever decide to give up on his career goal of landing a modeling contract in LA.

After that bombshell revelation, we learned that there are several warrants out for Helt's arrest, as he apparently burglarized a home and then refused to complete his community service or fulfill the requirements of his probation.

But Miley says all of this is unimportant, because there are homeless people, y'all and won't someone please think of the children? Or something:

It all started when Miley Cyrus had a "homeless" man give her acceptance speech at the MTV Video Music Awards on Sunday night.

Many viewers pointed out that the man - 22-year-old Jesse Helt - looked more like he'd stepped out of the pages of GQ than the alleyways of Skid Row, but even so, Miley was widely praised for her efforts to call attention to the plight of the impoverished in America.

Then the truth came out. Jesse Helt was never homeless. As many might have guessed from his appearance, he moved to LA to pursue a career in male modeling.

He fell on some hard times, but he had a home and living family waiting for him back in Oregon all the while.

Helt's mom revealed that he was never a homeless teen (as he'd implied in his speech) just this morning, but that wasn't the final bombshell revelation of the day:

Here we go again. Fresh off a selfless effort to raise awareness for homelessness at the VMAs, Miley is right back to feuding with other celebs.

Her latest victim is rising British pop star Ed Sheeran.

And while Miley's attack on Ed may not be as extreme as the time she tore apart a Selena Gomez doll on stage, it still gained plenty of attention from eagle-eyed VMA viewers.

Miley Cyrus Calls Ed Sheeran an A-hole?

Many claim that if you pay close attention to the above GIF, you can see Miley call Sheeran an "a--hole" as he heads to the stage to accept his award for Best Male Video.

So why might there be bad blood between Miley and Ed? Well, it all goes back to some blunt comments Ed made about Miley's twerk-tastic past in an interview last year:

At Sunday night's 2014 Video Music Awards, Miley Cyrus pulled a stunt that was far more unexpected than her Robin Thicke twerk-fest of the previous year.

After winning the Video of the Year award, Miley gave the stage to Jesse Helt - a 22-year-old homeless man who proceeded to give a stirring speech about the plight of impoverished Americans.

There's just one problem: Jesse's family claims he was never homeless and is welcome to return to Oregon to live with them, should he ever decide to give up on his male modeling career in LA.

"He wanted to be in Los Angeles," said Jesse's mother, Linda Helt, in an interview with The Daily Mail,  "He had opportunities and he took them, but he had his ups and downs like anyone else."

"It was his choice. He was always welcome. He could always come back at any time. If he needed help, I'd help him."

For the second consecutive year, Miley Cyrus made headlines at the MTV Video Music Awards.

This time around, though, Miley didn't Twerk, abuse a foam finger or even perform on stage at all.

Instead, she used her Video of the Year victory to shine a spotlight on the issue of homelessness, inviting a special guest named Jesse as her date to the ceremony and having him give a speech on her behalf.

"I am accepting this award for the 1.6 million runaways and homeless youth in the United States who are starving, lost and scared for their lives right now," Jesse told the crowd, helping Cyrus raise awareness for her new fundraising campaign for My Friends Place, a homeless center in Hollywood.

Miley has received some flak for what some perceive to be a self-serving, exploitive act... but she explained her motivation in a chat with Ryan Seacrest this morning.

The 2014 MTV Video Music Awards have come and gone, providing plenty of memorable moments from the red carpet to the big stage at the Forum in Inglewood.

From Taylor Swift's red carpet prediction of her own terrible dancing (she delivered) to Blue Ivy and Beyonce showing us all how it's done, this night had it all.

Amber Rose's VMA dress turned heads (as did Demi Lovato's), Ariana and Big Sean were caught holding hands and Common paid tribute to Michael Brown.

As expected, we saw Nicki Minaj Twerking until the cows came home (and Usher sampling the goods), the Kardashians looked bored to tears, and Lorde?

Lorde was Lorde. Awkward, talented Lorde.

Did you miss the ceremony? Want to see all of the aforementioned highlights and more in just two minutes? Let's break down the 2014 MTV VMAs in GIFs!

For the second year in a row, Miley Cyrus shocked viewers of the MTV Video Music Awards last night.

Of course, this year's jaw-dropping moment couldn't have been more different from the infamous Miley and Robin Thicke performance that drew the ire of the Parents Television Council in 2013.

Rather than gracing the stage with another twerking teddy bears routine, Miley showed her more thoughtful side last night when she turned the mic over to a 22-year-old homeless man named Jesse after winning the award for video of the year.

Cyrus claims she was simply trying to call attention to the issue of homelessness and use her time in the spotlight to do some good. Critics of the gesture, however, believe the pop star exploited a struggling young man for the sake of her own vanity:

What a difference one year makes.

At the 2013 MTV Video Music Awards, Miley Cyrus stole every headline by Twerking alongside Robin Thicke and forever dirtying foam fingers in the eyes of viewers around the globe.

At the 2014 ceremony, however, Miley won Video of the Year for "Wrecking Ball," but didn't even take the stage to accept the trophy.

Instead, she walked up with a 22-year old named Jesse, who told the crowd he was one of "1.6 million runaways and homeless youth in the United States who are starving and lost and scared for their lives."

He explained that the music industry will make $7 billion this year, while they honor themselves at major events... with thousands of poverty-stricken individuals sitting right outside the theater's doors.

He talked of fundraising campaign created by Cyrus that will benefit a drop-in service center in Hollywood she's been visiting as of late and asked fans to visit Miley's Facebook page for more.

It was a surprising, emotional few moments that you can view here:
