New York is nicknamed the "city that never sleeps."

This weekend, however, it was the setting for a couple that often sleeps... together!

Witty segues aside, Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart celebrated the incredible opening of New Moon by living it up for a few days in the Big Apple.

On Thursday evening, the couple hung out at the Soho House and "had a good time," a helpful witness told People. From there, Robsten was spotted making out (!!!!) at Avenue, where they also shared a table with Joan Jett.

The following night, Rob and Kristen totally broke curfew: They stayed out until 3 a.m. at the Upper West Side's Dive Bar.

Finally, on the Lord's Day, the pair dined at Megu in Tribeca. A creepy insider relayed each star's actual meal, as Pattinson dined on Kobe beef skewers and asparagus, while Stewart enjoyed a sashimi platter and the king crab.

"They were with two friends and looked very cozy," said the source. "Both were having a great time."

Yeeeaaahhh they were!

Proving that no good deed goes unpunished, celebrity chef Paula Deen was struck the face with a ham someone threw in her direction at a charity event.

Deen was helping unload a truck load of hams at Hosea Feed the Hungry & Homeless to make a Thanksgiving donation on behalf of Smithfield Foods.

This was all good until someone playfully threw a ham at a storage bucket and missed ... hitting the Food Network star on the head and nose.

HAMMING IT UP: Paula Deen was tagged by one.

Deen was "startled at first, but quickly regained focus and kept her humor," says her rep of what was the most flagrant abuse of meat since ... well, this video.

Adds Deen's rep, "She's totally okay and now is icing her face."

Sen. John Kerry's daughter is off the hook.

These politicians' kids. They get away with anything just because of their parents' pull ... or because the L.A. City Attorney decides not to prosecute them because they're actually under the legal limit for blood alcohol content in this case.

Early Thursday morning, Alexandra Forbes Kerry was pulled over and busted for DUI by the LAPD Thursday morning, refusing a blood alcohol test at the scene.

A formal test given to her at the police station showed her level was .06 ... under the legal limit of .08. Alexandra Kerry was released on bail shortly after.

She could have been prosecuted anyway, as all it takes is the court's judgment to deem you are under the influence in California and one sip is enough.

However, just as most people aren't issued speeding tickets for driving 40 in a 35, the D.A. has bigger fish to try and prosecuting a .06 is a non-starter.

That said, the dismissal was pretty much a foregone conclusion.

He may be a notorious womanizer, but as John Mayer sees it, he's holding back, in large part because of that label he can't seem to shed (fairly or otherwise):

“I should be having sex with more girls.”

This is what the douchebag concluded to the New York Times in an interview that ran over the weekend. But alas, the celeb gossip sites have taken their toll.

“It’s crazy to me that in my head, that being 32 and dating women is going to get me in trouble,” he said. “I can’t even explain how terrible that feels."

"I equate dating a woman with punishment, shame, guilt, disappointment, reproach, reprimand, persecution," the self-pity party continued. "It’s a nightmare.”

For John Mayer, being an ambivalent, self-aware heartthrob has its downside.

In the three years since his last album, the double-platinum Continuum, was released, he’s become a notorious tabloid staple as well as a singer/songwriter.

Mayer is known arm candy - Jessica Simpson, Jennifer Aniston - and his tests of will with the media as much as he is for his music. But now it’s music ... right?

His new album, Battle Studies, released on Tuesday, seems to suggest it ... but with a hint of cynicism and bitterness that may stem from his personal life.

Most of its tracks are about love, and about lovers, and about anyone who might be looking and passing judgment from the outside in. Aww. Poor John Mayer.

New Moon has been out for less than a week, but it's historic box office haul raises at least one question:

Fans won't need to wait long for the third Twilight Saga film to hit theaters, as it's scheduled for a June 30, 2010 premiere. In fact, Summit Entertainment just released the first official Eclipse poster:

While most of the New Moon cast will return for the third movie - including mainstays Robert Pattinson, Kristen Stewart and Taylor Lautner - one shake-up has already created buzz around the flick.

In July, Rachelle Lefevre, was replaced as Victoria by Bryce Dallas Howard. The character actually plays a critical role in the third story, as she gathers together an army of newborn vampires.

We won't give anything else away about Eclipse. Not yet, at least. There will be plenty of time for that movie's hype throughout the winter and spring of 2010 on The Hollywood Gossip.

Hours after shocking the music world with his raunchy American Music Awards performance, Adam Lambert was anything but apologetic.

"You know honestly, if I offended some people... it's apples and oranges. I'm not an artist that does things for every single person," he told Access Hollywood. "I believe in artistic freedom and expression, I believe in honoring the lyrics of a song, and those lyrics aren't really for everybody, either."

During his rendition of "For Your Entertainment," Adam kissed another guy, shoved a dude's face into his crotch and dragged a scantily-clad woman around by her leg. The first two acts were edited out when the show aired on the West Coast.

Lambert considers this an act of "discrimination."

"There's a big double standard, female pop artists have been doing things provocative like that for years, and the fact that I'm a male, and I'll be edited and discriminated against could be a problem," he explained.

The man makes a good point: when Britney Spears and Madonna kissed on stage at the 2003 Video Music Awards, the act was replayed for days on end. No affiliated dared to censor it.

But what do you think the reaction would be if Lambert made out with Kris Allen during a concert?

"People are scared and it's really sad, I just wish people could open their minds up and enjoy things, it's all for a laugh, it's really not that big of a deal," Lambert said of his sexuality and his provocative acts.

We agree. Did Adam really do anything on stage that Prince, Madonna, Britney or Lady Gaga haven't done before? The only difference: he's gay. America has to get over that. After all, as Lambert shouted many times last night:

He's only here "For Your Entertainment."

Kate Hudson made quite an appearance last night at the American Music Awards, kissing New York Yankees star boyfriend Alex Rodriguez in full, public view.

On top of that, she flashed her chest in a sparkly Gianni Versace dress with a plunging neckline, suggesting that she may not have eaten since about 2007.

Possible anorexic near-nipple slips aside, Kate Hudson and A-Rod palled around with friends, making sweet music backstage at the American Music Awards.

As Kate got cold, possibly due to malnourishment, Alex stepped up, a source said: "A-Rod gave Kate a big squeeze to keep her warm, and a sweet smooch."

She was "beaming, glowing actually." Consider our heart strings tugged at.

YIKES: Kate Hudson's dress at the American Music Awards left much to be desired, and yet little to the imagination. At least A-Rod was there to comfort her.

Hudson, along with Nicole Kidman, who both star in the upcoming Nine with Fergie, introduced the singer-actress's performance with the Black Eyed Peas.

A-Rod, who just won his first World Series title with the Yankees this month, introduced Jay-Z and Alicia Keys, who sang their hit, "Empire State Of Mind."

Hudson, in her barely-there silver dress, ignited giggles from the crowd, and at our headquarters, when she repeatedly adjusted her plunging neck line.

Eat a burger or two sometime, girl. Or some more tofu if that's what you're into. But yeesh, that's just not healthy. No matter what Kate Moss says.

Forget health care reform in Washington. Dr. Conrad Murray will see you now!

The personal physician who Janet Jackson and a lot of people at the LAPD believe killed Michael Jackson is officially back at work. Patients? Banging down the door.

We're kidding about that ... hopefully. But Dr. Conrad Murray has resumed his medical practice as of this morning, his lawyer confirmed to various media outlets.

Murray will be at the Armstrong Medical Clinic in Houston, Texas, which was searched by police on July 22. Michael Jackson died on Murray's watch June 25.

Dr. Conrad Murray has been laying very low for months.

He's got a bigger motivation than clearing his name to get back to work. A judge told him he must pay $1,000 a month in child support or he goes to jail.

We don't see that AEG lawsuit panning out, either.

Whether Murray goes to jail depends on the outcome of the Jackson homicide invesigation and what charges, if any, he faces when the D.A. reviews it.

That's anyone's guess, but we don't imagine he'll get off scot free.
