Amber Portwood isn’t giving too much away ahead of Teen Mom OG‘s August 22 premiere, but she did reveal one major life detail:

She and fiance Matt Baier are putting the brakes on wedding planning.

Last season, as you know if you watch Teen Mom online, Baier’s sordid past was brought up frequently, and it was messy AF.

As fans know – and Amber’s baby daddy Gary Shirley pointed out to her – Baier has seven children, or eight according to some reports.

All of whom he’s failed to pay child support for.

While Baier claimed earlier this year that Amber "knew everything" about his past relationships, that did not necessarily appear to be true.

In any case, the ordeal has certainly taken a toll on theirs.

So much so, in fact, that Portwood confirmed that her planned October nuptials to the 44-year-old Baier would not be happening.

"Everything got thrown on the back burner when stuff happened," Portwood told People Magazine, which first reported this news.

That "stuff" being six baby mamas and one giant lawsuit?

"You’ll see us working through certain things together and you’ll see us talking about marriage and what we’re going to do," she says.

Probably for the best, given everything we know about Baier – and the things we still don’t, which are very possibly just as bad.

"You see us take a back burner this season, honestly," she continued.

"There’s been so much talk about me and Matt the last season."

"We kind of stay a little private," she said, but acknowledged, "it’s hard to stay private when everything is out in the open."

Portwood has stood by her man, at least publicly, telling fans on social media that she’s aware of his past indiscretions.

Or so we thought.

"Honestly, I tried to stay neutral in the whole situation because I didn’t know what was going on yet," Portwood admitted.

Staying neutral? About the man she plans to marry?

She admits that sounds unusual, but explains:

"I didn’t know what the truth was. I didn’t want to make a rash decision on something that everyone else was saying."

That’s fair. As is the fact that as the sheer amount of baggage Matt brings to the relationship sinks in, she will have doubts.

Maybe temporary doubts, maybe for good.

Right now, all the 26-year-old is revealing for the moment is that dealing with Baier’s past has been, and is, a process:

"You will see in this season me making my decision on what I was going to do with me and Matt."

It could be that the couple will come out of this stronger than ever, but a canceled wedding doesn’t inspire a lot of confidence.

Portwood did not mention where she and Baier stand now, but she is doing something about social media.

It’s there where she’s been a frequent target of trolling.

"[This season] you’ll see us talking about everything in the media and getting the truth out there," she said.

"We’re actually about to go to the Dr. Drew show to talk about online bullying," Portwood also teased.

Amber has frequently hit back at critics of her man, and her relationship, since Baier became so controversial.

Clearly, this is a subject that hits close to home for her – despite, or because of, the fact that she’s a public figure.

Teen Mom OG returns August 22nd at 9 p.m. on MTV.
