The 37-year-old actress, on the cover of the magazine's new issue, looks ethereal and pensive in a black-and-white profile shot, with the big question:

What will the "Angelina Effect" be on other women?

A little over the top? Maybe. But Time points indisputably that Angelina Jolie's decision to have elective surgery puts "genetic testing in the spotlight."

The star tested positive for the "faulty" BRCA1 gene, indicating that her likelihood for developing breast or ovarian cancer was extremely high.

Angelina Jolie‘s double mastectomy was apparently just the beginning. The Oscar winner's ovaries are coming out too, according to People magazine.

She implied as much in the New York Times op-ed in which she revealed she had a double mastectomy after learning she carries a “faulty” BRCA1 gene.

That trait could dramatically increase her risk for breast and ovarian cancers, which she is determined to prevent, no matter the physical toll.

“I started with the breasts, as my risk of breast cancer is higher than my risk of ovarian cancer, and the surgery is more complex,” the star wrote.

But her medical odyssey is not done.

The morning after Angelina Jolie published an op-ed in The N.Y. Times that revealed her decision to have a double mastectomy, Brad Pitt has issued a statement.

One in which he praises his life partner in no uncertain terms.

"Having witnessed this decision firsthand, I find Angie's choice, as well as many others like her, absolutely heroic," he told London's Evening Standard.

"I thank our medical team for their care and focus."

"All I want is for her to have a long and healthy life, with myself and our children," said Pitt, with whom she has six. "This is a happy day for our family."

Angelina Jolie has gone public with her choice to undergo a preventative double mastectomy.

In Tuesday's New York Times Op-Ed section, Jolie revealed the difficult medical decision she made after discovering she carried the BRCA1 gene.

This leads to an increased risk in breast and ovarian cancer.

Jolie's mother, Marcheline Bertrand, passed away at 56 after battling cancer for over a decade.

As Jolie said in her article, We often speak of “Mommy’s mommy,” and I find myself trying to explain the illness that took her away from us. They have asked if the same could happen to me."

A never-before-seen topless photograph of Angelina Jolie from back in the day has surfaced and is expected to fetch big bucks at an art house auction.

The picture was taken by famed celebrity photographer David LaChapelle in 2001. He took a series of Angelina Jolie photos when the star was just 25.

A number of pics will be auctioned next month during The Wild Side of Photography sale at Christie’s fine art auction house in London, reports indicate.

Angelina’s is expected to go for between $30,000 and $46,000.

We have not made this point in a little while, but: Angelina Jolie is awesome.

E! News confirms that this UNHCR Goodwill ambassador has opened up an all-girls school just outside of Kabul, Afghanistan.

The location was chosen because that area typically favors male education over female education, while many refugees have been returning to the village after the fall of the Taliban.

The school teaches over 200 young women, with Jolie making plans to open similar institutions around the world in the near future.
