Jana Duggar has never been one to rock the boat.

Sure, the fact that Jana is still single has been a source of speculation and endless rumors, but her quiet life on the Duggar compound is anything but scandalous.

Which is why so many fans have been shocked to hear the words "Jana" and "controversy" in the same sentence this week.

It all started innocently enough, with a trip to the Tontitown Grape Festival in the Arkansas town that the Duggars call home.

Given the ultra-conservative views that reign supreme in the Duggars’ community, the Tontitown fest is probably the only grape-related celebration in the world where you can’t get a decent glass of cabernet, but that’s not the source of the controversy.

No, the  latest Duggar mini-scandal is a result of this photo:

It may seem innocent enough, however, if you look closely, you’ll see that Jana’s pic has been photoshopped — but not in the usual way.

Jana herself remains unretouched.

It’s the women in the background who have had their appearances altered — outfitted with clumsily drawn "skirts" in order to create an appearance that’s more in line with the Duggar’s ideas about "modest" attire.

Jana could have simply cropped the women out of the shot.

Better yet, she could have waited until the women passed by or chosen a different angle so that they wouldn’t be caught in the background.

Instead, she chose an unacceptable fourth option, which has many of her followers accusing Jana of slut-shaming a pair of strangers.

Far from the usual comment section kerfuffle, this one made it all the way to The New York Post, which pointed out that some of Jana’s followers have started referring to her family as "Y’all-qaeda," due to their outdated and misogynistic views on women.

"They were obviously scouring the photo, searching to find something to be upset about," one follower commented.

"I can’t imagine being that negative, to go looking for things to be offended by. That kind of misery must be awful.”

Another pointed out that the Duggars were so busy fretting over exposed legs that they failed to notice a far more offensive part of the pic:

“You do realize there’s a boy in the background lifting his shirt and flicking you off right??” she wrote.

“I guess u were too occupied with covering the girls thighs [you] didn’t notice…. How sad.”

But the complaints were best summarized by this lengthy and articulate comment republished by the Post:

“If Jana doesn’t want to share a photo that shows people whom she considers to be dressed immodestly then that’s absolutely fine, it is her page and she is allowed to share what she sees fit, but what is not acceptable is imposing her own personal standards on other people without their consent by editing their appearance in such a way,” the commenter wrote.

“The Duggars expect to have their beliefs and standards respected, to not extend the same basic courtesy to other people is hypocritical, to say the least.”

Needless to say, this was not one of Jana’s more well-received pics.

Inarguably, she was way out of line in doctoring the photo.

But Jana is a Duggar which means she’ll always have stalwart defenders.

“If I had to guess, I would assume she did it for the benefit of her younger brothers who may follow her,” the follower figured.

“Not as a sign of disrespect to the women (whose faces you can’t even see). I honestly don’t understand the outrage.”

Yeah, nice try — but you don’t get to alter the way other people are dressed and then put their photo on the internet. Period.
