Well, another Teen Mom 2 reunion is upon us, and just like last year, the promise of intense drama -- and perhaps even some light violence -- hangs like a thick fog around MTV's Manhattan studios.
Last year, the feud between Kailyn Lowry and Briana DeJesus nearly came to blows (Bri's sister Britanny eventually yanked Kail to the ground by her hair.), and this year, MTV has even more reason to beef up security.
You see, in 2018, Jenelle Evans remained at home in North Carolina.
Her husband, David Eason, had recently been fired from the show, and Jenelle refused to make the trip to NYC unless MTV would foot the bill for David's flight and accommodations, as well.
The network refused, and instead, Dr. Drew Pinksy traveled to Jenelle's home and filmed her interview segment there.
Some of the other cast members were miffed that their bosses went to such great lengths to accommodate Jenelle, but ultimately, it was widely agreed that the compromise was for the best.
David, after all, was considered a dangerous menace, and he had demonstrated violent tendencies at the previous year's reunion when he drunkenly pulled out a knife at a cast party.
So it came as quite a shock to many when Jenelle revealed that David will be making the trip to New York with her this weekend.
Fortunately, MTV has worked with the rest of the cast to reach an arrangement that will allow everyone to feel safe.
“David can’t be in the same state,” a source close to the situation tells Radar Online.
“There will be security.”
Yes, while the Easons will be in the same general region as Kail, Bri, Leah, and Chelsea, gun-crazy Dave will never actually set foot in New York State.
“Jenelle and David are staying in a hotel in Philly,” says the insider.
“She’ll be traveling to New York Friday for press. She’ll be back Saturday all day for the reunion.”
Yes, MTV is so terrified of another "incident" during the reunion taping that they'll be sequestering David in an entirely separate state.
They're basically stopping just short of transporting him in a straightjacket and Hannibal Lecter mask.
It may seem overdramatic, but it appears the rest of the cast would tolerate nothing less in terms of precautions.
“David is unstable. I don’t want to be around him or in the same vicinity," Kail told Radar last month.
And it seems the safety concerns don't end with David.
According to Kail, MTV has also taken steps to ensure that she will never cross paths with either Jenelle or Briana.
“As far as the reunion goes, I’m allowed to be on stage with Chelsea and Leah if I want to be,” she said.
"Briana is being kept separate from me."
Insiders say, DeJesus and Evans will likely film together, as the rest of the cast refuses to share a stage with either of them.
Hopefully, the ladies of Teen Mom 2 will thoroughly enjoy their MTV-funded trips to New York.
Something tells us this might be the last one.
