If you've been keeping up with Teen Mom gossip for a while now, then you probably know about Kailyn Lowry's family.
Meaning that you probably know she really doesn't have any.
She has her children, of course -- her three sons, Isaac, Lincoln, and Lux -- and it's obvious that she loves them very much.
But as for parents or siblings or any extended family?
Nope, not so much.
Her father was never around, and she actually met him for the first time on her 16 and Pregnant episode, but it didn't go well at all, and she didn't keep in touch with him.
Her mother, Suzi, is an alcoholic, and she has been for Kailyn's entire life.
Kailyn has been open about this, about how Suzi would show up to her school drunk, and about how she would leave her alone for extended periods of time when she was a kid.
We saw a little bit of it ourselves on the show -- she signed over custody of Kailyn to Jo Rivera's parents when she got pregnant, and when Kailyn and Jo broke up later, she didn't exactly welcome her back into her home with open arms.
Since then, we haven't heard too much about Suzi, and now we know why.
In the new episode of Kailyn's podcast, the episode featuring Catelynn Lowell and Tyler Baltierra, she admitted that she doesn't even know if her mother is still alive.
Like, she actually came out and says that, word for word.
"It's been years," she explained. "I don't think anyone in my family has heard from her."
She said that she started really thinking about her family after Lux's first birthday earlier this month, because when she had the party, "Like nobody, not even my extended family came."
"I was like, 'I don't have a family,'" she continued. "My sister didn't come, my mom didn't come, I don't even have a dad."
"My third son just turned one and my mom, I haven't heard from her. I'm kind of in my feelings about it."
It totally makes sense that she'd be in her feelings about this -- it's surprising she's not constantly in them over her mother, honestly.
She went on to explain that "for a long period of time, I cut my mom off, I had to," and she said that she was "OK with that."
"I'm OK with her not being in my life, but now, I have three kids ... I want my kids to have a grandma on my side. But I don't know if I can handle it."
She said that ideally her children would be able to have their grandma around because "when my mom's sober, she's such a good person. She's a good time, so I want my kids to experience that."
Unfortunately, it's not looking like that's going to happen, at least not at this time.
Kailyn told Catelynn and Tyler that she hasn't spoken to her mother since her second son, Lincoln was a baby, because she let her babysit him once and when she came to pick him up, she was "so f-cked up."
Tyler tried to talk to her about his relationship with his father, Butch, who's dealt with addiction for Tyler's entire life, and about how he's come to accept that part of him.
"I have a hard time with that," Kailyn told him. "I don't have any sympathy or empathy or whatever you want to call it. I don't have it or my mom, and it's hard for me."
"I want to have a relationship with her but am I going to be OK with it if she's not sober all the time?"
She went on to say that "I don't think my mom recognizes she has a problem, or if she does recognize, she doesn't want help."
But even though she says she's not willing to be understanding about her mother's addiction, she admitted that she's turned out to be just like her in certain ways.
"My mom's had so many people in and out, and I started to see that in myself," she said about relationships. "Like when something didn't work out, we're on to the next person."
Kailyn ended things with Javi in 2016, moved on to Chris Lopez, and then she briefly dated Dom Potter at the end of last year.
There have been rumors that she's been hooking up with Chris again, but we haven't heard anything official, and she actually said that this is the longest she's ever gone without being in a relationship.
She also said that she doesn't want to be in a relationship right now because she's not ready for one.
That's a kind of self-awareness that Kailyn hasn't really shown before, but she's not done yet!
Later, she told Cate and Tyler that "I think people forget that I don't have a family, so I just come off very cold."
"I don't know how to handle certain situations and I'm so defensive. I'm like, 'Let's put a poker face on and call it a day,' but I cry a lot!"
She also said that she's "definitely self-absorbed," and "everything is about me."
"I want the person who doesn't want me," she added. "That's how my parents were. I needed my parents but they didn't want me."
Kail doesn't know where Suzi lives these days, and she doesn't have her phone number, and as she said, she might be dead for all she knows.
She mentioned on the podcast that she may be interested in trying to find her mother, but before you get excited about a potential life-changing, heartwarming reunion ...
When someone mentioned the story on Twitter yesterday, Kail responded with a simple "Sorry to disappoint but I no longer want to reach out."
Hopefully Kailyn is able to get some kind of closure about her parents, even if she's not interested about speaking to them.
Because it's clear that they've done a whole, whole lot of damage to her.
