Another day, another wacky theory about what caused the split between Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner.
Earlier today, we reported that Affleck and Garner's marriage ended abruptly, and the couple was not separated for ten months, as was originally thought.
Some say Ben got caught cheating. Others say Jen was simply fed up with his drinking and gambling.
Now, Radar Online is reporting that the real problem was that Ben's commitment to his best friends was more important than anything else in his life - including his marriage.
An insider says Ben is much more than just BFFs with fellow actor Matt Damon and Hollywood agent Patrick Whitesell. The relationship between the men supposedly goes beyond a simple bromance, as all three regard each other as family.
“They’ve all been best buds since their collaboration on Good Will Hunting,” the source says. “Ben and Matt have been dedicated to Patrick since they took home their Oscars.”
Jen reportedly started to feel as though she placed a distant fourth behind Matt and Patrick on Ben's list of priorities, particularly as her marriage crumbled, and it became clear that her husband preferred to talk about their problems with his bros than with her.
“She felt left out and alone, so she started to control things,” the insider says. “It got nasty. She started making thinly veiled threats."
Is the theory that Jen called it quits on her marriage because she was jealous of her husband's bros a little absurd? Yes.
But it's also possible that this was just one of many difficulties that Jen had been enduring for the past ten years, and it all simply got to be too much.
