In the two days since we first learned that Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner are getting divorced, several conflicting theories have emerged as to why the couple is calling it quits.
One thing that most outlets seem to agree upon, however, is that the split was a long time coming, and Ben and Jen have had been living separate lives for the better apart of a year.
Now, a new report from Lainey Gossip is challenging that notion and claiming that all was well in Bennifer Land as recently as late March, and that the decision to divorce came sometime in the past three months.
The photo above was taken just over six months ago, and Ben and Jen sure don't look too separated, do they?
The couple appeared in public together several times after that photo was taken, and they appeared very much love on each occasion.
Most recently, Jen stood by her man's side, holding his hand and whispering words of encouragement in his ear when he spoke before the Senate Appropriations Committee in March.
In fact, the first indication that anything was amiss in Ben and Jen's marriage didn't come until April, when Ben was spotted without his wedding ring in Canada, having apparently skipped Jen's birthday.
So there you have it. The 10-month, gradual growing apart, mutual decision narrative is BS.
This was an EVENT divorce. Something happened, and it happened in the last three months. Cue the "Ben got caught cheating" rumors.
