Barack Obama made a plea to David Letterman during an appearance on The Late Show last night:
Come on! Play dominoes with me, man!
The President of the United States and the veteran comedian will both soon be jobless, with Letterman set to retire on May 20 and Obama leaving office in 2016.
What will these stars do in their newfound free time?
"I was thinking you and me could play some dominoes together," Obama said. "We could go to the local Starbucks and swap stories."
Along with discussing upcoming plans, Letterman listed "Top 10 Questions Dumb Guys Ask the President," which included:
- Will you be a guest on one of my last shows?
- Will you show us your birth certificate?
- When will you return my gyrocopter?
Letterman also gave Obama props for his performance at the 2015 White House Correspondents Dinner, asking whether the President has a writing staff to assist with jokes and quips.
"No," Obama deadpanned. "I came up with it all myself."
The two men also discussed the serious topic of the Baltimore riots, while exchanging very kind words about one another.
"After a tough day at the office or coming home from work, knowing that you’ve been there to give us a little bit of joy and a little bit of laughter, it has meant so much," Obama said, adding:
"You’re part of all of us. You’ve given us a great gift and we love you."
President Obama has been a semi-regular on the late-night talk show circuit.
Several weeks ago, Obama read mean Tweets about himself on Jimmy Kimmel Live.
