Are you still reeling for Zayn Malik quitting One Direction?
At least one person familiar with the artist and the group says you really shouldn't be.
Morgan Spurlock was behind the camera for the One Direction documentary "This Is Us” and told The Huffington Post this week that Malik stood out from his fellow singers for a couple reasons.
"He always struggled with being on the road. He's a homebody," Spurlock says. "He wanted nothing more than to sit in his house and spray paint and draw and do art."
Spurlock went on to say Malik "struggled the most" with the explosion of fame and fortune that enveloped the band not long after it released its first single.
There has been a lot of talk over why Malik left One Direction.
In his statement, the singer claimed he just wanted to experience life as "a normal 22-year-old who is able to relax and have some private time out of the spotlight."
But then he was spotted in a recording studio and fans got angry that he actually left to pursue a solo career and then there was chatter that Malik departed due to Drake and...
... Spurlock thinks everyone should relax.
"Being away, being on the road, being away from his girlfriend I think finally just got to him, and I think he said, 'I'm done,'" the director says, making it sound just that simple.
Spurlock also called Zayn "probably my favorite guy in the band" and "probably the best singer in the group."
