One U.S. tabloid has published the controversial Kate Middleton baby bump photos taken on her vacation in Mustique. The Duchess is on the cover of Star.

Italy's Chi magazine was the first to run the Kate Middleton baby bump photos, which were apparently taken with a long lens from the ocean, this week.

Unlike last year's scandal, during which Chi ran topless photos of the 31-year-old at a private villa, this batch features her in a bikini and on a beach.

Still, it's re-ignited the royal controversy over Middleton's privacy.

Under fire from the royal family and others for running Kate Middleton baby bump photos in its latest issue, Italy's Chi Magazine has no regrets.

Most mainstream publications declined to run the photos. Not Chi, whose boss, Alfonso Signorini, stands by his decision to distribute the images:

Signorini said in a statement Wednesday:

"The photographs were bought from an international agency. We cannot talk about a violation of privacy when we publish pictures of public people in a public place."

"You can't compare this with the media persecution of Lady Diana. I cannot stress enough that the photos were taken in a public place, not private property."

As promised, Chi Magazine defiantly published long-lens photos of the pregnant Kate Middleton strolling on the beach in Mustique in a blue bikini.

With the 31-year-old Duchess' ever-so-slight baby bump visible, the magazine's headline reads "La Pancia Cresce." Translation: "Your Belly Grows."

So does the controversy over Kate's right to privacy.

Chi Magazine, which supposedly paid $300,000-plus for the Kate Middleton bikini photos, appears utterly unconcerned by the ire of the British royal family.

A NEW batch of Kate Middleton bikini photos will reportedly be published in Italy's Chi magazine, months after it ran topless shots of the Duchess.

St James' Palace condemned plans by the celebrity gossip magazine to print photos of Prince William's pregnant wife on a private Caribbean holiday.

The alleged Kate Middleton photos are said to show the 31-year-old wearing a bikini and walking on a beach on the island of Mustique with her husband.

The Kate Middleton photo scandal has come roaring back with the publication of even more (and clearer) images in Scandinavian gossip magazine Se og Hør this week.

The magazine's editor quickly defended the move.

"We are a leading gossip magazine in Denmark, and it is my job to publish them," Kim Henningsen said of the Kate Middleton topless (and bottomless) images.

Taken with a long lens, the images - basically the same as the ones published previously in French and Irish magazines - show Kate in a bikini ... and then not in a bikini.

A rep for the royals declined comment, saying, "Our stance is the same as before - we aren't commenting save to say all proportionate legal responses will be kept under review."
