Janet Jackson grew up in the spotlight, and that's precisely the thing she does not wish on anyone, especially her 14-year-old niece Paris Jackson.

The daughter of the late Michael Jackson recently got her first movie role in Lundon's Bridge and the Three Keys. Janet is not totally on board.

"We've spoken about the fact that you're only a child once," the pop star told Prevention magazine in a new interview, released this month.

"I think there's a time for everything, and now is not the time [to act in films]."

"I told her that I thought she should enjoy being a kid, possibly go to college or not, but wait till she turns 18. She's a very tough, smart girl."

"But it's a cutthroat industry. I wouldn't want my child to do it."

That wasn't the only thing Janet was chatty about. The Nutrisystem spokeswoman was very candid about her weight and body issues over the years.

"I think people really connect with the idea of someone who's gained and lost weight in a public way, and also someone who's an emotional eater."

She's flattered, but she's out of the running.

Janet Jackson has put the rumors - which she sort of encouraged initially by hemming and hawing during an interview with Anderson Cooper - of her involvement with The X Factor to rest.

In a statement, Janet says she's "very flattered that X Factor let me know I was being considered for next season, but it just wouldn't be possible."

Why not? What's on tap for the artist? She is committed to her Number Ones Up Close and Personal Tour and will be starring in an upcoming Tyler Perry movie.

Does this mean The X Factor will seriously consider Britney Spears as a judge? Let's hope so!

And, with that exchange between Anderson Cooper and Janet Jackson yesterday, the singer made it sound very much like she'll be a panelist on season two of Simon Cowell's singing competition.

Over the last couple weeks, a variety of names have been bantered about for the judging gig, from Beyonce to Mariah Carey to Kelly Rowland. But Janet appears to be the most likely possiiblity yet.

The official death certificate for Whitney Houston has been filed with Los Angeles County and made available to the public - but it reveals very little about the singer that we didn't already know.

The document runs through the basics - name, date of birth, occupation ("entertainer"), marital status, next of kin (Bobbi Kristina) and place of death - and also confirms that she'll be buried at the Fairview Cemetery in Westfield, New Jersey.

But it lists "deferred" pending further investigation as the cause of Whitney's death.

It's strongly believed, of course, that Houston died because she mixed prescription pills with alcohol, but no specific drugs have been confirmed. Autopsy results may not be back for weeks.

PETA doesn't care that Super Bowl viewers saw a glimpse of Janet Jackson's boob a few years ago.

Naming Jackson its Grinch of the Year, PETA issued a statement this week that reads:

"When Janet Jackson had her infamous 'wardrobe malfunction' during the Super Bowl, at least the flesh that popped into view was her own. Unlike the stolen animal skins that she drapes herself with, which are as dead as her taste in fashion (not to mention her career). Ms. Jackson, you're just plain nasty."

And PETA knows a thing or two about nastiness. In order to drum up attention for itself animals, the company is starting a porn site.

Janet Jackson brought her Rhythm Nation to Toronto on Saturday night.

As part of her Number Ones, Up Close and Personal Tour, the long-time artist danced around on the Sony Centre stage in front of an intimate crowd that totaled just 3,200 people.

Currently without a record deal, Janet belted out such classics as "The Pleasure Principle," "Control" and "What Have You Done For Me Lately," but she saved her most emotional performance for last.

The veteran artist has announced a slew of North American dates for an upcoming tour that will feature singles from her chart-topping album "Number Ones."

"These concerts will be different from anything I have ever done," Jackson writes on her website. "I will be as up close and personal as possible. These concerts are not about special effects. This is a love affair between me and those of you who have supported me and my work for all these years. I'll be singing and dancing from my heart."

Is Janet Jackson engaged to Wissam Al Mana? No, no she's not.

She had to deal with the same rumors about her last boyfriend, but that's all they are in this case, too. Rumors. And she takes them in stride.

On Good Morning America to promote her new film For Colored Girls, she says there's no truth to the engagement story, but she's very happy.

Wissam Al Mana is no becoming Mr. Janet Jackson ... yet.

The interview inevitably turned to the singer's personal life and when asked about her blossoming relationship she shot down any marriage rumors.

'He is a very private man so i don't talk about our relationship,' she said of Wissam Al Mana, an Middle Eastern businessman she began dating in April.

"But it is really important that I just say this," she continued to her GMA host. "They (media) have been trying to marry me off for a very long time."

"No I am not engaged, I will say that. But, I am in a really good place."

Hey, as long as she's happy, so are we.
