Rihanna to PTC: I'm a Rock Star, Not a Role Model!!

by at .

Rihanna is no role model, and she'll readily admit that - while hitting back at the PTC for criticizing the message of her new music video this week.

The Parents Television Council condemned Rihanna's "Man Down" video for depicting a premeditated murder and glorifying the revenge aspect.

Outraged at the video's violent content, the group also implied a double standard, saying Chris Brown would be condemned for a similar video.

Rihanna Tweeted today in response:

"I'm a 23 year old rockstar with NO KIDS! What's up with everybody wantin me to be a parent? I'm just a girl, I can only be your/our voice!"

"We have the freedom to make art, LET US! Its your job to make sure they dont turn out like US. U can't hide kids from society or they'll never learn how to adapt!"

"This is the REAL WORLD."

While the content of her video pushes the envelope farther than most, she makes a reasonable point. It is a parent's responsibility, is it not?

Thoughts?

You hit the nail on the head RBW. One minute she's a role model by her own admission, next minute she's not. Farah barnes, who messed up their kids? and who leaves Rihanna to parent them? Just because a parent expresses concern doesn't mean they don't handle their business. Of course, Rihanna is free to express herself, and in that same vein, parents are free to express their views. In the end, we're all responsible for our own actions. Rihanna is no exception. "Rockstar" or not.

Actually, Rihanna's work is targeted at teens and adults. Most teens and young adults (unless they're sheltered) have seen worse things on tv than this. Everybody with common sense knows that Rihana's work isn't aimed at little kids and hasn't been for a while. An artist has the right to express their feelings through their art- even if parents and conservatives don't like the way that artist thinks or feels.

the biggest thing wrong here is rihanna calling herself a rock star seriously? since when is that rock and as a mother the only person responsible for what my children think is acceptable is up to me. Stop leaving your job as a parent up to music movies or tv and stop blaming others because you f****** up your kids. Even if they hadn't listened to eminem talk about killing kim or raping his mom they still would have been messed up take responsibility for what you did or didn't do the world is a cold hard place and art is a way of making it a little better stop trying to tell artists how to do their job and do yours
