We've now all seen the episode of The Real Housewives of Orange County in which Kelly Dodd assaults Shannon Beador.
After she whacks her castmate in the head during an ill-conceived "prank," Shannon complains of head pain and goes to urgent care.
An off-screen medical professional even asks if she wants to press charges for assault.
Vicki Gunvalson may not have been there for the incident, but as one of the Tres Amigas, she was kept up to speed.
The OG in the OC spoke to RadarOnline about the dramatic incident.
She says that it confirmed her long-held suspicions about Kelly's troubled and troublesome behavior.
And she confirms that Shannon's complaints of head pain were no act. She was suffering.
Kelly effed up, and it's Vicki's time to pounce
Now that the episode has aired in which Kelly bonks Shannon's metal bowl-covered head with a mallett and Shannon races to urgent care to get checked out, Vicki is telling the world exactly what she thinks of Kelly and her behavior.
This is what went down
In the aftermath, Shannon complained of a headache and blurry vision in one eye (after removing her contact lenses). Always conscious of unlikely worst-case scenarios, she and Tamra headed to urgent care to get checked out.
Vicki Gunvalson has a lot to say about it
"Kelly thinking she was funny by hitting Shannon on the head is not ok," Vicki expresses to RadarOnline.
She says that this fits Kelly's pattern
"Kelly always takes everything too far," Vicki opines.
But this was too much
Vicki adds: "How she thought by doing that to her head was ok is beyond me."
She wants Kelly held accountable
"I don’t think anyone should get away with assault and battery," Vicki openly wonders.
Is there something wrong with Kelly?
"I don’t think Kelly has control of her actions," Vicki theorizes. Oh dear. Bad impulse control might make for a great reality star, but not a stellar person if those impulses are harmful.
Actions have results, and they're not always good
Vicki claims that Kelly "does and says things without looking at the consequences."
Violence is not the answer, folks!
"No one has the right to hurt anyone," Vicki correctly states.
Shannon was right to be careful
"I’m glad Shannon got checked out," Vicki states. She would always want her friend "to be sure it wasn’t more serious."
There's a real lesson here
Other people own their bodies and you do not. If you're going to pull a prank, whether it's throwing a snowball or spraying silly string or, yes, banging a metal bowl that your friend is wearing, make sure that you have their consent. Does that ruin your prank? Then it wasn't a good prank to begin with.
The thing is, Kelly knew that she shouldn't have done it
On The Real Housewives of Orange County, Kelly admitted: "Mark my words, she will be so pissed off."
She wasn't trying to be hurtful, mind you
"I was kidding around with her," Kelly clarified. "I didn’t mean it as malicious."
But Kelly had a prediction
She said on camera: "But she’s going to be like, ‘That was not cool. I was trying to get the aura out of my system, and you were here hitting my head and now I have a concussion.’" Yep, that's about exactly right.
Kelly responded to Shannon's fears with mockery
"I know, I’m strong,” Kelly joked. “I was just trying to put a little ring in the ding. She’s full of crap. She’s a f--king dumba--."
Vicki and Kelly have been feuding for ages
And Vicki points out that she's not solely responsible for that, saying: "She's not innocent in all this."
Kelly feels differently
Speaking of her long-time enemy, Kelly says: "Vicki has no idea the magnitude of hurt that she has done to my family."
Shannon really resents Kelly's "joke"
"I can take a joke any day," Shannon assured the confessional camera. "Tut there's a certain line that you cross with jokes and getting physical with anyone isn't funny."
Shannon expressed that during the episode
"Are you serious?” Shannon said when told that Kelly had been the one to bonk her on the head. “I have a headache from that. It really hurts, Kelly. … I have a headache now."
Tamra was fairly blunt about her worried friend
"I know Shannon overreacts, that’s just who she is,” Tamra acknowledged.
That's no real surprise
When Shannon mentioned a headache, Tamra decided to bring up that her ex (Ryan's father) had once started leaking spinal fluid after a seemingly innocuous bump on the head. If you know that your friend panics, maybe keep that anecdote to yourself. Unless you're a reality star trying to stir up drama, that is.
Tamra knew just how to calm her friend, however
“But in order to settle Shannon down, she has to see a doctor," Tamra explained to the camera. "The doctor has to tell her she’s okay, and then we can move on."
To be clear, Vicki wasn't there
As a demoted "Friend," she was only at the retreat for 24 hours. But Vicki reveals: "I was on the phone with Shannon and Tamra after it happened, and Shannon definitely was hurting."
There's a lesson here ...
Just because your friend panics over possible health issues doesn't mean that they don't need reassurance and it also doesn't mean that they're not in pain or that nothing COULD be wrong. We're glad that Shannon is okay.
There's another thing to remember, though
Just don't touch people without their consent. That's not just about groping, folks. Whacking people with objects, no matter your intentions, is just not as fun for the recipient as you might think. Kelly could have told Shannon that she looked like a sculpted floor lamp and left it at that.
