Teen Mom OG star Ryan Edwards has been arrested yet again and is currently being held without bail in the Hamilton County jail near his hometown in Tennessee.
The news comes to us courtesy of The Ashley's Reality Roundup.
The Ashley reports that Ryan was taken into police custody on Monday on charges of possession of a controlled substance.
Ryan, of course, is no stranger to the inside of a jail cell, having been arrested at least twice previously.
In fact, this marks the second time in less than a year that Edwards has been taken into police custody.
And this time, he might be facing a very serious penalty, as he's unlikely to get sprung anytime soon.
Here's what we know about the situation thus far:
A New One For the Collection
Ryan Edwards has been arrested in his home state of Tennessee yet again. It's the second time this year the troubled Teen Mom OG star has been taken into custody.
Details regarding the charges against Ryan are scarce at the moment, but the situation is serious enough that Edwards was denied bail.
Ryan's legal troubles began last year when he was arrested for heroin possession.
In March of 2018, Ryan was picked up for a probation violation stemming from that earlier arrest. Prior to that point, Edwards had managed to keep his legal difficulties hidden from fans.
An Eventful Week
Ryan's latest arrest comes just days after he and wife Mackenzie Standifer announced that they had been fired from Teen Mom OG, which they claim is a result of the fact that MTV did not want to show Ryan in recovery.
Too Much Reality
"We’re not returning to Teen Mom this season," Standifer told E! News. "The network told us they don’t want to show Ryan as a recovering addict.”
The network's decision reportedly came at the urging of Edwards' ex Maci Bookout, who wasn't buying Ryan's repeated claims of sobriety.
A Mom First
Maci reportedly told network heads that she would not participate in the show as long as Ryan was allowed to continue filming, as she did not want her eldest son to see his father's struggles on TV.
"Maci -- and a lot of other people around Ryan -- do not believe that Ryan is sober," one insider tells The Ashley. "Maci told the producers that she did not want Bentley to be able to watch his father kill himself with drugs, so if Ryan was allowed to continued to film, she was done filming.”
An Easy Choice?
“It was pretty much him or her, and they picked Maci over Ryan," says the source. "That’s why Ryan is no longer filming."
Taking a Stand
"Ryan and Mackenzie can say whatever they want about MTV not wanting to show a recovering addict or whatever, but that’s the real reason behind them being let go from the show," says the production insider. "Maci would not agree to film until the network agreed that Ryan would no longer film.”
The Bristol Factor
MTV's decision to add Bristol Palin to the cast was reportedly a response to the complex Ryan/Maci situation.
Facing the Music
Now, Maci has essentially been proven right, and it looks like Ryan will be paying a steep price for his continued substance abuse.
Cooling His Heels
"He is still here," a Hamilton County jail spokesman tells Radar Online. "He has no bond. He goes to court August 6, 2018. He will be in jail until his court date."
Plenty of Time to Reflect
Yes, that means Ryan will spend a full two weeks behind bars. That's never an easy situation, but it's even more stressful than usual in this case ...
Ready to Pop
Mackenzie is set to give birth in October, and there's a very real possibility that Ryan will be stuck behind bars for the occasion.
His Word Against Hers
In a recent statement to E!, Ryan confirmed that it was Maci who got him fired. He blamed his ex for refusing to believe his obviously fraudulent claims that he was sober.
The Believability Factor
"They also want to take Maci’s word on how I’m doing,” Ryan said. “Maci’s said she’s not going to film unless I enter rehab again and quit the show. But I’m sober.”
Mackenzie has also offered her two cents on the situation. She took the opportunity to throw some shade at MTV for leaving her in a lurch in her final trimester.
Abruptly Cut Off
"The show had been paying for my healthcare and for the baby so they could film the visits and then a week ago they let me know that would no longer be the case,” Mackenzie said.
The End of the Edwards Era
"They’re not going to film the birth,” Mackenzie added. “We’re not going to be on [the show] at all. Maci can’t speak to Ryan and Ryan can’t speak to Maci – that was a mutual decision. But she doesn’t know what’s going on in our lives.”
Standifer went on to accuse MTV of offering an inaccurate and dishonest depiction of Ryan's struggles.
A Serious Accusation
"They did want to enter a contract with our unborn baby and have the baby film with Ryan’s parents so it would look like someone else is raising it," she said in a statement.
"So they’re writing us out of the show right now and making it seem like we dipped out on our baby, on Bentley and on everyone. And that’s just not the case,” Standifer continued.
Echoing the Sentiment
Ryan also spoke out against MTV in a lengthy Instagram rant, writing: “Don’t take everything you see on MTV as factual truth. They don’t want to show me or Mack in a happy light or that I am active in my recovery. I AM."
Misleading the Fans
"They want me to look angry, passive aggressive and uncaring regarding things that mean the most to me," he added. "I’m done taking their shit and letting the world believe this by standing up for myself. You’re believing a lie. And soon… very very soon, you WILL see the TRUTH behind the LIAR.”
For obvious reasons, Ryan has not been able to issue a statement about his latest arrest. We'll keep you updated as more information becomes available.
