If you've been keeping up with Teen Mom news, then you definitely know that Amber Portwood isn't having a great time right now.
And that's because she is not a good person.
Quite the opposite, as a matter of fact. She was arrested for domestic assault against then-boyfriend Andrew Glennon back in July.
Since then, things have kept getting worse.
Now, just when it looks like Amber can't sink any lower, friend and co-star Maci Bookout has made a statement in support of her.
But why though?
Amber is an abuser. We've known that for a long, long time.
Several years ago, we saw her assault Gary Shirley on Teen Mom -- once she punched him in the face, another time she kicked his back when he was walking down some stairs.
We never saw her hit Matt Baier, but there were plenty of rumors about it, and Matt has recently come forward to claim that she was violent with him, too.
And although we've never seen her abuse Andrew, he may have the most harrowing story of all.
Amber was arrested on the morning of July 5th after beating Andrew while he was holding their one-year-old son, James, and allegedly chasing him with a machete, again while he was holding James.
She was charged with three felonies -- two counts of domestic violence, and one count of criminal recklessness with a deadly weapon. A pretty big deal considering she's already been convicted of two felonies and Indiana is one of those three-strikes states.
If she's convicted, she could be facing several years in prison, and honestly? She probably needs it.
Andrew kept quiet about everything for a bit after the arrest, but when Amber did her segment on the Teen Mom OG reunion and made fun of him, calling his story "insane," he pretty much went off.
He's been getting more and more open about their relationship -- he's said that she'd been abusing him for a year before the arrest, that she'd been rough with James, too, and he even claimed that she'd threatened to kill baby James twice.
We've even heard leaked recordings of Amber abusing Andrew, like this one where she calls him horrible names and threatens to kill him.
And this one, where she calls him horrible names, threatens to kill him, and audibly hits him.
And this one, where she calls him horrible names, threatens to kill him, and tells him he deserves the abuse.
What a Monster
Those recordings are all really horrible to hear, but not surprising -- we've heard her go off like this several times in the past. Still, it's hard to hear baby James cooing in the background, seemingly used to his mother screaming and being violent.
They were so troubling to hear that, at long last, Amber's Teen Mom OG costars have finally begun to address the situation.
Unlike the Teen Mom 2 crew, the OG girls have always been tight, for the most part. They didn't like Farrah, of course, but Amber, Maci, and Catelynn vacation together, and Cheyenne does too, now that she's part of the gang.
The other three OG girls all flew out to Indiana for Amber's first court date after the arrest, that's how much they wanted to support her.
But Then ...
But after the recordings came out and we all heard proof of just how abusive she was to Andrew, it became a lot more difficult for them to stay silent.
Catelynn was the first to address the situation -- she tweeted "I would hope that from watching my journey for 10 years that you all would know that I do not condone violence of any sort especially in front of children... my heart breaks... and I am truly sad..."
"I in no way condone violence!! I hope she gets the help she needs..." she continued, later adding "Just know that I didn’t hear that audio till all of you did and I’m so sad and heart broken...."
Shortly after that, Tyler tweeted "Honestly...my heart is really saddened by what I have heard. I just pray that everyone gets the help they truly need in this situation. Abuse is NEVER okay...EVER!" He also reached out to Andrew privately to offer him his support.
Cheyenne wrote "All I can say is that I am a praying for everyone involved.. my heart is so sad after what I heard and I hope she gets the help she needs."
Even Amber's former co-star and archenemy, Farrah Abraham, gave her two sense, writing on Instagram "“I’m so disgusted by the cast of teen mom…the injustice, no ethics, illegal abusive behavior in front of a child. 10 years same behavior…JAIL TIME FOR THIS FREAK!”
But although all these statements from all these Teen Mom stars were flooding in, one was noticeably absent -- Maci's.
It did make sense, kind of, because Maci by far the least active on social media, but still, you'd think she'd have something to say about something so major, right? Especially when everyone else was sharing their thoughts.
Don't worry though - she's finally spoken about the situation. Whether you like what she had to say is another story.
Unfortunately, a lot of people aren't too impressed with what she had to say.
“My heart breaks for everyone involved and affected by this terrible situation,” she said. “I do not condone or support abuse or violence of any type. Amber has been a close, genuine friend of mine for many years, I will support her in getting the help she needs."
"I truly hope and pray that everyone involved receives the help necessary to recover from what has happened, and the guidance to prevent future incidents."
So what was wrong with that? Well, according to her followers, a lot.
"This just comes off as scripted and fake....you need to have a come to Jesus moment with your friend.. Bc this has been going on for 10 years...." read one reply.
Someone else told her "No mention of Andrew? Any words for not also supporting him or reaching out while you all were partying before Ambers court hearing? A man verbally and physically assaulted in front of his child by your close genuine friend that you plan to support? You are better than this!!!"
"Did you hear the next latest audio??" another follower asked. "This is not a mental health issue this is a choice she made to continue repeating. She threatens multiple times to kill him! I am absolutely stunned you continue to 'support' her & not once show public support for the victims."
One more: "So you support amber in getting help?! Why not support the VICTIMS in getting help, amd the ABUSER to go to jail?! If it were andrew that did this to amber I guarantee your statement would have been completely different, and you would believe he needed jail, not 'help'!"
Of course there's always the possibility that these ladies were instructed in what to say in these statements, but still ... it's strange, isn't it?
One, because Maci once cared so much about who MTV allowed to be on the show that she refused to film unless Farrah was fired because she starred in a sex tape. Because having a sex tape is worse than beating up your partner and threatening multiple times to kill him.
And Another Thing
She's always been so quick to take issue with Ryan's drug addiction -- a couple of seasons ago she once again threatened to quit if he wasn't removed from the show. And instead of supporting him, she has a restraining order against him.
