Throughout his very impressive Major League Baseball career, Jim Edmonds was known for his incredible defense.
But the former Gold Glove Award winner has now gone on the offensive in the face of very damning allegations.
Accusations about Jim’s bad behavior as a husband have been coming at him like 98 mph fastballs over the past few days.
Terrible baseball analogies aside, as you likely know by now, Edmonds filed for divorce last Friday afternoon, October 25.
This marked the end of his union with Real Housewives star Meghan one day after the couple’s fifth wedding anniversary.
Vicki Gunvalson, Meg’s co-star on The Real Housewives of Orange County, pretty much called that to a T, didn’t she?
The news comes months after Jim allegedly cheated on Meghan while she was pregnant with the tandem’s young twins.
And just several hours after Edmonds was then also accused of cheating on Meghan … with the family’s nanny.
Yikes, right? And also: Yuck!
If the allegation is true, it goes without saying that the longtime baseball star comes across as a pretty vile human being.
According to Us Weekly, the police were actually called to the Edmonds’ house late last week after Meghan confronted Jim about this nanny rumor – although nothing physical or violent took place.
No arrests were made, either.
Things have now turned even more ugly and accusatory as salacious claims continue to fly between all parties involved.
FIRST, the nanny in question (a woman named Carly Wilson) actually commented on the chatter and flat-out denied it.
“The allegations are completely false,” she said simply on Instagram, denying a sexual trip around the bases with Jim.
THEN, Jim came out and posted this:
Yes, he referred to her as a "narcissist." AND NOW Jim Edmonds has issued a much longer statement in response.
Jim wrote online, alongside a photo of an old magazine cover from his baseball days:
"It’s one thing to be accused of something. It’s another thing to be so negligent and so careless, and ruin the lives of innocent young people.. I did not sleep with our nanny."
After blatantly calling out Meghan in this manner, Edmonds continued:
“She’s not just a nanny, she is someone that we brought into our house and promised to protect and look after while she was in our home.
"We have been treating and raising this young girl like she is our own child. For someone to accuse me of sleeping with her is not only wrong, it’s disgusting and irresponsible.”
After the divorce filing went viral, Meghan responded to a comment on her Instagram page (above) in which she clearly did confirm that Edmonds slept with Wilson.
Or that she believes he slept with Wilson, at least.
We obviously can’t say one way or the other in this case.
But let’s remember what transpired this past summer, as a woman came forward and accused Edmonds of sleeping with her behind his wife’s back.
And of sending her naked photos.
And even of sending her a video of himself masturbating on the same day Meghan gave birth to the couple’s twins.
At the time, Jim denied every having sex with this person.
But he basically owned up to the rest.
“Regrettably, I had a lapse in judgment. I engaged in an inappropriate conversation with this person,” he told Us Weekly in June, making both an apology and also stating a defense for himself.
He continued back then as follows:
"At no time was there any type of relationship or physical contact. Absolutely none. This is someone trying to profit from my name…"
"Clearly, I made a very poor decision to expose myself and my family to this type of person. For this, I am truly sorry and sought forgiveness from my wife."
Meghan didn’t entirely provide said forgiveness, however, saying on record that she was sobbing every night and wasn’t sure if her marriage would survive the scandal.
Alas, it did survive that scandal – and the fact that, according to a source close to The Hollywood Gossip, Edmonds is a "horn dog" who "raked girls in spring training."
But this was a bridge too far for Meg.
"We made a promise to that young girls mom, that We would take care of her and make sure that she was safe while she was in our hands. I will not sit here and take this bulls—-t without fighting back,” Jim added on Monday.
He then kept taking swings at Meghan:
“Just because you’re extremely whitty and intelligent, and know how to play the Instagram game. Doesn’t give you the right to use that platform to wrongfully accuse."
"Not only is it irresponsible. It is dangerous and puts my family in harms way," he said.
Jim, who appeared alongside Meghan on Seasons 10 through 12 of Real Housewives of Orange County, concluded as follows:
