When is a vacation not merely a vacation?
When your ex-wife just hurled you far under a bus and you feel a need to respond in a passive aggressive, albeit very pointed, manner.
Here is what we mean...
On Monday night, Matt Roloff shared what appeared, upon first glance, to be a harmless and very gorgeous photo.
“Showing you all a photo off my balcony in Cabo (right at the very tip of the Baja peninsula) where the beautiful Sea of Cortez and magnificent Pacific Ocean come together," wrote the reality star as a caption, adding:
"Waiting for Caryn and her daughter Brittney to arrive. They are on their annual mother-daughter vacation cruise, and I’m going to surprise them when they port in Cabo. Except it’s not such a surprise anymore.
"Still a very fun rendezvous in a far away land.”
Like we said: Harmless and gorgeous, right?
Perhaps not so much.
You see, Matt posted this picture and this message just days after excerpts from Amy Roloff's new book went viral.
These excerpts accused her former husband of maybe not fully cheating on her with Caryn Chandler -- but coming as close as possible to doing so.
Amy writes in her memoir that Matt and Caryn, who worked as the manager at Roloff Farms, grew inappropriately close toward the end of Matt and Amy's marriage.
As their Little People, Big World grew in popularity, Amy writes Matt started “spending more and more time at the tavern he often frequented in the evenings after filming and working on the farm."
Without citing Chandler by name, she adds:
“Then it dawned on me. Matt and our farm manager, who had been working for us a number of years by then, seemed to have more than just a working relationship or friendship.
"I saw messages, pictures, and other things that should not have been shared between people who just worked together and were still married to other people.
"I was devastated."
Amy and Matt were married for nearly 27 kids, split in early 2016 and share four kids.
They've maintained a very amicable relationship ever since their divorce.
This is why so many followers were so taken aback upon seeing Amy's criticism.
Did Matt really act this way with Caryn? Had Amy been keeping it all inside this whole time, just waiting to expose him in her book? And how would Matt react to being called out in such a public forum?
To date, Matt has simply said he's taken the "high road," as outlined below:
But we think he's saying far more with these new Chandler photos.
It can't be a coincidence that he decided to surprise her on her special vacation, and then chose to tell the world about it, just a week or so after Amy came out and exposed his quasi affair to the world.
It's hard to interpret this latest Instagram message as anything other than an EFF YOU to Amy; as a way for Matt to say he's gonna keep living his life and he nd Caryn are happy together and Amy will just need to learn to live with that and move on.
That's what we think at least.
What about you?
