It’s been three months since John David Duggar married Abbie Burnett, and from the very start, the couple’s relationship has been different from the courtships of John’s siblings.

For starters, John David and Abbie did not follow the courtship rules that defined the early days of the previous Duggar relationships.

And going forward, it looks as though they’ll continue their disregard for the rules and regulations first codified by John David’s parents.

If you’re a fan of the family’s reality shows, then you’re probably aware that the Duggars are big on procreation.

In fact, Duggar girls are taught from a young age that making babies is their primary reason for being.

As a result, women in the family rarely work outside the home.

After all, the Duggars are well-off, and it seems their feeling is that time spent in an office or other place of employment is time that could be spent expanding the family.

Unfortunately for Jim Bob and company, it seems Abbie doesn’t share that view.

Abbie has a degree in nursing, and she’s licensed to practice in her home state of Oklahoma.

Sources close to the Duggar clan say she’s already begun the process of transferring her license to Arkansas, where she’s currently living with John David.

Needless to say, that’s a good indication that she’s planning to continue her career even though she’s now an official member of the Duggar clan.

However, despite initial reports that John David’s parents are upset about Abbie’s decision to continue working, insiders close to the family have indicated that Jim Bob and Michelle were quick to come to terms with the situation.

Part of the reason for that is they consider nursing to be a noble profession for a woman.

Yes, you have to remember that the Duggars are almost impossibly old school, and they likely would not be okaywithh Abbie working in a more traditionally "male" line of work.

On top of that, insiders say the John David’s parents are just happy he finally found the right woman.

For years, there was a running joke within the Duggar clan that JD would remain "bachelor till the Rapture.”

Thanks to Abbie, that won’t be the case.

And the Duggars are so grateful for her intervention that they’re apparently willing to look the other way on some of their longest-standing customs.
