Last week, we reported that Scott Disick ditched Kourtney Kardashian while the two of them were "enjoying" a family vacation in Costa Rica.
Shortly thereafter, the mercurial (some would say slightly unstable) Disick was spotted hooking up with two different women in Miami.
We're assuming these encounters happened at different times?
One never knows with Disick and the timeline, but obviously, many have been left wondering what could have gone so wrong in Costa Rica.
For all their issues, Scott and Kourtney had been co-parenting amazingly well, and had been on vacation together as a family before.
In other words, it raised eyebrows that this peaceful trip deteriorated so much, and so rapidly, leading to the aforementioned events.
Well, now it looks like we might have our explanation..
According to Us Weekly, the 33-year-old Scott finally popped the question to Kourtney, the mother of his three adorable children.
And he got shot down.
“Scott proposed to Kourtney,” a source close to the Kardashians tells the magazine. “Not with a ring. He just said, ‘Let’s get married.’”
To the surprise of absolutely no one, except possibly for Scott himself, the 37-year-old Kourt wasn't having it in the slightest.
“She told him no,” reports the family insider.
“Scott was embarrassed, upset and angry.”
A blowout fight reportedly ensued, and Scott jetted off to Florida and proceeded to behave as Scott often does in this kind of situation.
Insiders claim Scott was especially upset this time) (not that one needs additional reason to be upset after proposing and being shot down), though.
Because he says, and not entirely without merit, that he's devoted the past 18 months of his life to cleaning up his act with this in mind.
Unfortunately, if he really felt that Kourtney would take him back, and marry him, it seems that it was a case of too little, too late.
“Kourtney is over being with him," says the source.
Kardashian famously kicked Scott to the curb after he was caught cheating with Chloe Bartoli during a trip overseas in July of 2015.
In the months that followed, Scott and Kourtney seemed to tenuously reconcile several times, but never fully committed to each other.
As we said, they were both dedicated to their children and to having a positive relationship with each other, but a romance? Not quite.
Those who watch Keeping Up with the Kardashians online know that the Lord has been notoriously resistant to the idea of marriage.
This has been the case for the entirety of their time together - which has been more than 10 years by some estimates.
So why propose now, after all this time?
Well, it seems Scott's the kind of guy who doesn't know what he's got 'til it's gone ... and he may have just learned this the hard way.
Unfortunately for the hard-partying reality star, he may have missed his shot, and he's taken Kourtney's rejection extremely poorly.
Sources say Kourtney kicked Scott out of their home after learning of his latest infidelity in Florida, which wouldn't be the first time.
Friends are now worried about what he might do in response to this setback, and given his track record, they have good reason to be.
The possibility of Scott literally partying to death has been floated around for years, and right now, his mental state is not the greatest.
Scott may be a notorious d-bag, but he's also a damaged man going through what sounds like a seriously troubled time at the moment.
Here's hoping he gets the help he needs, because no matter what, he will always remain close to Kourtney and their kids to a point.
That kind of bond doesn't just fade away, even if they aren't a romantic item. And of course, above all, he has three children with her.
For their sake, we pray he gets help and gets it together.
