Before there was Kim Kardashian... before there there was North West… before there was a racist media to rant at… there was Fat Beats.

In 1996, this famous hip hop shop in New York City was moved to on 6th Avenue near West 8th Street, welcoming artists from all over to freestyle and help promote its new location.

And one of those artists would go on to become the Michael Jordan of music.

His name was Kanye West. He was only 19 years old. And Fat Beats employee DJ Eclipse filmed him rapping for a solid 90 seconds.

It’s unclear why this footage only just hit the Web this week, but it’s very much worth your time to view:
