Jennifer Lopez might be out – and a former fan favorite could be in.

With rumors once again swirling around the exit of J. Lo, and with the contracts of all three American Idol judges up, E! News quotes an insider who says Adam Lambert is under consideration as a Season 12 judge.

“They have been talking about Adam for over a month,” this Idol insider claims. “He personifies the show, and will be a popular choice right from the start. He knows what it’s like to be on the receiving end of the judges’ comments, he has a human touch, and they know they can’t go wrong if they bring him on. He would be able to bring a unique perspective to the show. People love him.”

American Idol is coming off a disappointing season, ratings-wise, and the source adds that Randy Jackson and Steve Tyler aren’t necessarily guaranteed to return, either. The Aerosmith singer’s plans are “up in the air,” while:

“Randy is great, but he’s part of the old Idol. They want to keep the soul of the show but have a new look, and for that reason he may well not be part of the new line up.”
