Barbie Without Makeup: Revealed! Sort of Natural!

by at . Comments

An artist's rendition of what Barbie would look like without makeup is going viral online, and for good reason. The classic all-American girl doll looks natural!

Well, mostly. Ridiculous body proportions aside.

Take a look at Barbie with no make up below ...

Barbie With No Makeup

While Barbie's face is still freakishly out of proportion with your average young woman's, she does look a bit more human without the blue eye shadow.

Take away that, the lipstick, the penciled-in eyebrows and the fake eyelashes and what do you have? A doll that looks a lot more like the girl next door, for sure.

This isn't the first time someone has conceptualized a "normal Barbie." Earlier this year, an artist illustrated what she'd look like with average measurements.

Barbie's shorter, curvier look earned raves from Demi Lovato and others. Will the no makeup version making the rounds this week draw similar praise?

And would you be more inclined to buy this or the original model? Share your comments on the latest re-imagined, more natural Barbie doll below.

Image dolls like Barbie should be more like real girls and young women; Natural proportions, natural faces and non-gender specific jobs just like in the real world would help to not create a subconscious standard of beauty that no would could or should live up to. I say keep the new look Barbie! Welcome to the 21st century!

Barbie is a beautiful doll that girls play with when they are little. Never once did I ever compare myself to a damn doll. I like her just the way she is and if little girls are trying to be more like her, then maybe the parents should step in and have a conversation. All this talk about women and their self esteem start with the parents. Yea there are things I don't like about myself, but I can change them. I am fine and very happy with my curves and my big butt and breasts. People need to get over it and most women need to change the things don't like instead of bitching about it...I understand there are certain situations where that might not be easy, but in this case learn to love yourself then!

I agree that parents set the stage for how children view themselves and everyone should love themselves for who they are. There is something to be said though for integrity in the media that children are exposed to, which includes the toys that are being marketed to them. If companies had their customers' best interests in mind instead of catering to a bottom line dependant on unhealthy societal standards, the world would be a better place for everyone :)

I get this whole modifying Barbie to be like the average girl, but I love Barbie as is. I wouldn't be inclined to buy the natural version of Barbie. Honestly, I don't think that the "natural" Barbie even does the average girl justice. So, why change the Barbie we all love and has been a wonderful asset to many childhoods. Just putting that out there.
