One of THG's favorite celebrities celebrates a birthday today.

Demi Lovato is now 22 years old!!!

The singer, who checked into rehab back in 2010 and has been very open about her personal struggles ever since, tries as hard as she can to be a role model for young women around the globe.

She is one of several stars who have overcome an eating disorder, she recently opened the Teen Choice Awards and she goes through more hair colors than Kim Kardashian goes through selfies.

This gay marriage supporter is one of the more open and honest singers out there and we can't help but admire how far she's come.

Happy birthday, Demi!!! Help us honor the artist's 22nd year on this planet with 22 fun pictures of Demi Lovato:

Demi Lovato was put squarely on the spot last night.

The former Disney star was a guest on Bravo's Watch What Happens Live and had already "pled the Fifth" with Andy Cohen when asked why she recently unfollowed supposed BFF Selena Gomez on Twitter.

Lovato hemmed. Lovato hawed. Lovato tried not to answer, but she then said "people change and people grow apart" and left it at that. INTRIGUING!

Clearly Lovato and Gomez, one-time total besties, are not on the same page these days.

If anything positive comes out of Robin Williams' death, perhaps it will be this:

Celebrities (and people in general) will be more open about their personal issues, more up front about internal battles that could lead to serious consequences.

In an interview with Glamour that went viral yesterday, for example, Girls star Zosia Mamet admitted to an eating disorder as a teenager that made her want to die.

She's healthy now, but she knows she'll never be completely over this dangerous "obsession."

But Mamet can at least find solace in the fact that she isn't alone. The following famous females have all struggled with issues of weight and self-esteem - and have all bravely come out the other side. We salute them.

It's okay to get excited. You certainly aren't the only one, as many celebrities have gushed over Shark Week on Twitter and in other public forums in the past, led this time around by Rob Lowe.

The actor is the well-chiseled face of Shark Week in many commercials, making clear his affection for the ocean's most dangerously beloved sharp-toothed creatures.

Click around below to see what Lowe and other famous folks have to say about Shark Week and go make some room on your DVR. Let's do this.

Once upon a time, seeing a female celebrity without makeup was like spotting a unicorn.

It just didn't happen. And when it did, it was a complete accident and the star went into hiding until said event was no longer in the tabloids.

This was, of course, pre-Google Images and to a lesser degree, celebrity gossip sites.

Kim Kardashian
Kim Kardashian's doesn't lie about the fact that makeup MAKES her who she is. She's shared more than one tutorial about how to get her signature look using highlighting products to contour her face.

Then Instagram came along and stars took matters into their own hands. Instead of having paparazzi leak pictures of them looking like regular people, they'd just share them for free.

Suddenly celebrities without makeup became a thing we celebrated, as Hollywood's hottest and most successful women decided to say "hey, we're just like you when we wake up."

Demi Lovato is once again standing up for a cause she believes in.

The singer, who revealed last month that her late grandfather was gay, is featured in a new public service announcement on behalf of the Human Rights Campaign.

In the footage, she makes a strong push for marriage equality across the board.

"I believe that love comes in all different shapes, sizes and colors, so whether you are LGBT or straight, your love is valid, beautiful, and an incredible gift," Lovato says, adding:

"So let’s protect love and strengthen the institution of marriage by allowing loving, caring, and committed same sex couples to legally marry."

Lovato served as the Grand Marshal of the L.A. Pride Parade last month, performing in front of thousands and giving the finger to haters.
