Police found Mindy McCready dead in her home Sunday. It is believed that her death was a suicide and she took her own life via a single gunshot.
The troubled country singer and mother of two was just 37 years old.
Details are still being pieced together, but Arkansas sheriffs' officials have released an official statement on the death of Mindy McCready. It reads:
"At 3:31 p.m., Sunday, Feb. 17, deputies from the Cleburne County Sheriff's Office were dispatched to a report of gun shots fired.
"Officers arrived on the scene at 3:58 p.m. and discovered the body of 37-year-old Melinda Gayle McCready on the front porch of the residence."
"Ms. McCready was pronounced dead at the scene from what appears to be a single self-inflicted gunshot wound. At this time family members have been notified."
The statement concludes, "Ms. McCready will be transported to the Arkansas State Crime Lab for an autopsy and the matter will be fully investigated."
A little over a month ago, McCready's boyfriend, David Wilson, died at the age of 34 at the same location. It is believed he also took his own life.
No cause of death or details surrounding his sudden passing had been revealed, however, and the death of Wilson continues to be under investigation.
McCready and Wilson have an infant son, Zane; the late singer is also survived by an older son from her previous relationship with Billy McKnight.
Mindy's rep said in another statement:
"I have no statement or information to provide until I get verification from the authorities in Arkansas and until all family including the children have been notified."
"The family and I have been trying to reach the authorities. I have not spoken to any officials that were on the scene. I am asking the media for sensitivity in this regard."
"At this time, any family member coming forward to confirm this is completely inappropriate."
