April Ryan to Robert Gibbs: Don't Play with Me!
Reporter April Ryan of American Urban Radio got into a heated exchange with White House Press Secretary Robert Gibbs today over questions he didn't care for.
It began Ryan inquiring about White House social secretary Desiree Rogers' role at the recent state dinner - site of Tareq and Michaele Salahi's party crashing.
April Ryan brought up whispers around Washington that Rogers had overstepped her role at the event, among other observations Robert Gibbs rolled his eyes at.
Growing frustrated by what he felt was Ryan's rudeness, Gibbs spoke as though she were a bratty child, talking down at her to "calm down" and "take a deep breath."
He then added: "I do this with my son and that's what happens."
As the press corps issued a collective "oooooh" at Gibbs' close-to-or-over-the-line insult, the far-from-pleased April Ryan shot back: "Don't play with me!"

This is what happens when monkeys don't have their bananas. She should swing back to the "radio" station and pretend someone gives a shit about her.

I used to work with April Ryan years ago and I can tell you she is as cool as a cucumber and extremely professional. She likely snapped at Gibbs because he was being evasive and condescending and perhaps because she isn't getting very much respect these days. I am a Journalist who has worked in DC for years and unless those of you who commented are Journalists in DC too, you shouldn't judge. By the way, to the Uncle Tom who said they think there shouldn't be many black Journalists in the White House Press Corps, you shame us all.

What bothers me most about the White House Press Corps is one year ago, two years ago, 5 years ago, 10 years ago - when they should have been asking the TUFF, TOUGH questions, they were silent and largely absent. They call that AWOL in the military.

I can't get past the way in which Ryan yelled at Gibbs as though she were speaking to her own 5y/o kid or as if she were HIS boss. The journalists there don't seem to have ANY respect for Gibbs or the Prez. DEEP!

Since it has always been the job of the Social Secretary to help the Secret Service with security during these dinners, what Ms. Rogers was doing at the time is relevant. Ms. Ryan is part of the press and her job is to ask these questions. Mr. Gibbs doesn't owe her an apology, he owes her an answer. How can people support the President and not demand that his staff do their job for him?

fuck im so piss right now how that white let that bitch talk to him like that man i would kick that nigga ass fuck man i hope this dude don't even try to apologizes to her she was fucking rude now all this shitty niggas thinks because we have a black president they re shit fuck hate them

I agree "gina". Sista girl was way over the top. The same thing happened the day before. I think April was pissed when Gibbs answered her questions but not in the way SHE wanted it answered. She tried to overtalk him and kept hounding him on the subject of Desiree Rogers. Gibbs plays it off.
Now we can take this one step further.
Here in Washington DC where I'm located, I hear April Ryan has a bit of a problem with social secretary Desiree Rogers. My conclusion may be a bit off base, but there may be a bit of jealous envy going on here. I say that particularly because of the way April will not let the topic about the "office of social secretary" go. Until April Ryan can prove to the world that she knows something that the rest of us do not, I say she needs to keep this "reality TV" style line of questioning to herself and not make a mockery out of serious government business.
Unless, of course, she's personally looking for a future cameo appearance on "Real Housewives of DC".
