We all know that reality TV shows rarely depict anything that could be accurately described as reality.
From the Teen Moms to the Real Housewives, just about everyone who's appeared on a long-running reality series has complained at one point or another about being the victim of a bad edit.
It's a necessary evil, as producers are tasked with the job of crafting narratives out of raw footage and creating heroes and villains, while in real life, most of us are somewhere in the middle of that spectrum.
The latest (alleged) victim of this trend is Ronnie Ortiz-Magro, who claims his implied affair with "Jewish Barbie" on last week's Jersey Shore Family Vacation was concocted by showrunners in an effort to provide viewers with the drama they crave.
Take a look:
Ron and Jen have certainly experienced some ups and downs over the course of their relationship, but they remain committed to making it work.
Ronnie and Jen's impassioned confrontations have made for some of the most memorable drama on this season of Shore.
What Happens In Vegas ...
For example, who could forget Jen's explosive -- and unexpected -- visit to Ron while the Shore gang was partying in Vegas?
What a Drag
And of course, there was the incident in which Jen allegedly dragged Ronnie with her car -- a confrontation that both sides now say was exaggerated by the media.
Even So ...
Jen has made no secret of the fact that she's got a bit of a temper (making her a perfect fit for Ron), so fans have been encouraging Magro to tread lightly this season.
Enter Jewish Barbie
So when Angelina's friend Lindsay, aka Jewish Barbie, entered the shore-less Shore house and began showing an interest in Ron, there was widespread concern for Magro's well-being.
Another French Fry
Ron has already demonstrated that he can get a little flirty in situations involving hot tubs, and his roommates feared he would repeat the same mistakes he recently made in South Beach.
Ron's roommates looked on in horror as it appeared he would be unable to resist Jewish Barbie's advances.
The Sitch Predicts
"Women in hot tubs are Ronnie's Kryptonite," Mike "The Situation" Sorrentino stated. "When Jewish Barbie comes out in her bathing suit, he will be left powerless."
So did Ronnie give in to JB as the Sitch predicted?
A Stand-Up Guy
Well, it may have looked as though things were headed in that direction, but Ron swears he was on his best behavior.
"Obviously the last episode has made it seem like I was into Jewish rag doll, it's edited to make it look worse," Ron recently posted on Instagram.
"I was in a bad place in my life and my relationship, and I acted out of anger and resentment," Magro continued.
Ron went on to offer apologies to Jen, as well as to his daughter, Ariana.
"I wouldn't never put myself in that position to hurt the two people I love the most in my life," he wrote.
Onward and Upward
"I want to lead [by] example for my daughter how to be a real man and I need to lead how to be a good boyfriend/husband," Magro went on.
Ron's Not Done
Obviously, Magro really wanted to clear his good name, as he continued his explanation in a second post.
Pouring His Heart Out
"I just wanted to apolog[ize] to my family for putting myself in such a bad position on last week's episode," Ron wrote on a photo of Jen and Ariana.
Reality Star Problems
"I love them more than anything and the editing makes it worse than it seems," he continued.
A Light That Never Goes Out
"I promise there's a light at the end of the tunnel," Ronnie added. "I wouldn't do anything to hurt either one of you."
Jen indicated that all is well by reposting Ronnie's apology and writing "I love u" on it.
Vindication on the Way?
Ron promises fans will learn the truth on next week's episode of JSFV. Unfortunately, that's a long way away.
This upcoming Jerzday is Thanksgiving, which means no new episode of Shore.
What Lies Ahead?
In fact, there's currently no new episode of Jersey Shore Family Vacation on the MTV schedule, so it may be quite some time before we see Ronnie reject Jewish Barbie.
But the truth will come out eventually, and Ronnie seems confident that Jen will be happy with what she sees when the episode airs. We wish these two all the best.
