So much for an amicable split between Mackenzie McKee and Josh McKee.
This past Friday, the new Teen Mom OG cast member announced she was leaving her husband, at least for the time being, amid rumors that he had cheated on her with possibly more than one woman.
When she confirmed this development on Instagram, however, Mackenzie did not really say anything negative about the father of her kids.
Fast forward about 24 hours, though, and McKee was penning a different tune.
What changed? And how did we end up here?
Scroll down for a runthrough of this romance, including an update on where it now stands:
Where Did Things Go Wrong?
Let's start with where they went right: Mackenzie and Josh got married on August 17, 2013, having already welcomed a son named Gannon together.
The Family Then Expanded
Gannon McKee was born -- via C-section -- on September 12, 2011. On February 7, 2014, Mackenzie gave birth to a girl named Jaxie Taylor; and on August 14, 2016, she gave birth to a baby boy named Broncs Weston.
Was Everything Smooth Sailing from There?
No. McKee admitted in an interview with Radar Online in March 2018 that she was hesitant to star in a one-off special about her life and had to talk to Josh about it first because "we were split up and seeing other people during Teen Mom 3.”
Really? That Sucks.
“It was honestly horrible," she said in this same interview, adding: “Then I had Broncs and it got even worse. He actually left and ended up filing for divorce. I think we were separated for two months.”
"Since then we opened up our own businesses and we got a house that’s a very nice home for our kids,” she said, claiming things were now just fine between the pair before joking: “But we’re still a hot mess."
Guess It Wasn't a Joke, Though
Not entirely at least.
Okay, So Again: Where Did Things Go Wrong?
On the August 5 premiere of Teen Mom OG, Mackenzie and Josh faced a major obstacle when a woman texted the former and claimed she saw Josh at a bar... cheating on his wife.
Mackenzie Was Already Struggling, Too
Because Josh was on the road a lot for his rodeo career and she was left at home with their three kids.
What Did Josh Say About This Allegation?
“There was no affection or anything like that there,” he claimed of his interaction with women at a bar, telling his wife. “I’m just here to tell you that I was at a bar, and I’d like you to trust me when I’m getting a few drinks at a bar. … I was just avoiding the fight, and I was wrong."
Mackenzie Seems to Call Out These Women on Twitter
She wrote this on Friday, August 16 and it seemed to imply she didn't believe the girls who told her Josh had been cheating.
"However I would like to say, that due to stress, me needing to stay focused, the media, etc. I am deciding my marriage needs a break," she wrote right afterward on Friday. "My heart breaks for my kids. But as of right now, this is what’s best. Thank you."
Putting a Positive Spin on the Separation
"Freshly single and ready to, be the boss babe that I am and let God lead me to what I deserve," she added on Instagram.
“You guys seemed solid,” one social media wrote to Mackenzie after she confirmed the separation online.
“We were,” Mackenzie responded. “We were truly best friends. It’s all just devastating.”
I Had No Choice
“I know in my heart he loves me. This was my decision," McKee added at this time, a mere two days ago.
Upon Further Analysis, However?
Mackenzie changed her tune from one that sounded amicable and even hopeful... to one that came down hard on her estranged husband.
Josh Actually Sucks, You Guys
“Turns out, Josh is not a good man whatsoever,” the Teen Mom OG star has now told Us Weekly. “Watching the show and catching him in lies, seeing how independent he is, I realize I deserve better.”
I'm No Longer Blind
Mackenzie went on to slam Josh to this tabloid as follows. “I have fought for this marriage for many years, and lately, I’ve really opened my eyes to what a horrible person he is."
Has Josh Said Anything in Response?
Nope. Not yet.
Could This All Be Staged?
It's possible. Mackenzie may be trying to secure another season of Teen Mom OG by stirring up drama in her personal life. Anything is conceivable when it comes to reality television -- but we're gonna assume for now that this split is legitimate and we're gonna reach out just to say we hope her kids are doing alright.
