Kelly Dodd has felt so alienated by her The Real Housewives of Orange County castmates that she's considering a move to New York.
(Of course, her engagement might also be a factor)
On this week's new episode, Kelly fumes and lashes out over the rumors circulating about her.
Did she really shove her mom down the stairs? She says no. But she blames Tamra for that rumor leaking onto social media.
As both Shannon and Kelly try to do damage control, Kelly decides that she doesn't want anything to do with ANY Tres Amigas.
On a more positive note, Braunwyn throws one hell of a party.
Last spring, a nasty rumor about Kelly made the rounds
Tamra Judge was secretly recorded, presumably by a fan, appearing to gossip to Shannon about Kelly Dodd. Specifically, Tamra was recordeds aying: "She threw her mother down the stairs, she got in a fight..." It made the rounds on social media.
Of course, it was out of context
"Who said the threw the mother down the stairs?" Shannon asked, despite having been there at the time. "Vicki did!" Tamra replied. Whether she was attempting to stir things up or not, Tamra wasn't claiming that it was true, just saying that Vicki was the one saying it.
Tamra wanted to discuss it
She sat down with Vicki and Emily and was adamant that this out-of-context video was defaming her at a very bad time, and that it wasn't her fault that the rumor was floating around. Of course, this is after Housewives had compared notes and realized that Tamra was central to a lot of drama despite trying to give herself plausible deniability. Maybe this was her chickens coming home to roost.
Meanwhile, Kelly was a wreck
On camera, she contacted her mother and brother. While video chatting, both of them confirmed that the "stairs" allegation was bogus and just intended to harm her reputation.
Kelly then explained
"When my mother and I got in a big fight," she summarized. "My mother kind of took Eric's side. My mom never said, 'She pushed me down the stairs.' Eric said that. And it is believed that my brother was selling stories about me."
Then came lunch with Shannon
Kelly and Shannon met up, and Shannon immediately tried to explain to Kelly that Tamra hadn't been badmouthing her -- instead, she had been "defending" her after Vicki brought it up.
This didn't go over well
Kelly was disgusted that Shannon was immediately on Tamra's side and speaking so much to defend her.
Shannon was clearly frustrated
Kelly had been saying hurtful things about Tamra on social media and in interviews after the audio snipped aired, and Shannon felt that Kelly was going to feel really silly when the truth came out.
If Kelly didn't want to be the bad guy in this narrative, we feel like she would have been styled differences. It's not just the bangs. Her whole look is "new stepmom who met your dad at the country club's tennis court and is going to send you to boarding school in Vermont." That's not a protagonist's vibe, folks.
Finally, enough was enough
Seeing Shannon sticking up for Tamra, Kelly decided that she needed to "distance herself" from the Tres Amigas. She stormed off.
There's a little bit more to the story
At the aftershow, Shannon did go into a bit more detail about how set in her ways Kelly was about what had gone down.
Tamra insists that she was defending her
Of course, that doesn't shield Tamra from criticisms that she discusses rumors as a vehicle to spread them, even if she appears to be condemning the rumors or confiding in a friend.
By the way . . .
Shannon's immitation of Kelly Dodd's determined and somewhat hostile voice was just super funny.
A reminder of what really happened
In the car -- not at the table, like some seem to recall -- Vicki, upon hearing Kelly's hurtful line about preferring to attend her funeral than her tea party, blurted out the rumor that Kelly had pushed her mom down the stairs.
Shannon was there for that
Although, given the way that she looks spaced out in this moment, it's possible that she did need Tamra to explain to her that Vicki had spread the story.
Meanwhile, Kelly explains the rumor's context
At the aftershow, Kelly went into further detail, explaining how she had at one point allowed both her mother and brother to move in with her, for free, and how stressful that had become.
Look at how nervous Emily was
You can see on her expression that she's politely listening but TERRIFIED that Kelly is going to confess to shoving her mom down the stairs, like something out of a soap opera.
Kelly insists that there were no stairs
She says that she eventually forced her mom and brother out of her house -- years ago, mind you -- and it sounds like there COULD have been some alleged pushing involved. But, Kelly adamantly states, no stairs.
Look how visibly relieved Emily was
She spends MINUTES steeling herself for the worst and probably had no idea how readily apparent it was that she was happy that Kelly clarified that there were no "stairs." It says a lot when someone thinks that you might end your story with a whole confession. Whoops.
Moving on ...
The segue between the Kelly drama and Braunwyn's Weaning Party was Tamra being reluctant to go until Braunwyn convinced her to come anyway.
It turned out to be, deep down, a bittersweet affair . . . because Braunwyn is a devoted mother and this party signaled the end of two decades of trying to get pregnant, becoming pregnant, giving birth, and nursing her babies, one after the other. She had a lot of fun at the party, but at the aftershow, she cried and hugged it out with Shannon.
So it was a hell of a party
It was a weaning party, so naturally, there were strippers. Also naturally, Braunwyn didn't let them have ALL of the fun.
Shannon had her misgivings
It was at Miami Key, where David allegedly began his affair, so Shannon had some other concerns on her mind. She was also concerned about finances and divorce matters.
Kelly was a no-show
So all of the concerns about Kelly and Vicki were moot. But the party itself got so wild.
Like ... VERY wild
Those of us who have seen the way that Shane treated Emily on camera were relieved to see her having a good time.
Seriously, she needed to blow off some steam
Remember, sex workers of all types, including strippers, are people too. But if they're okay with some friendly paddling, enjoy yourself. Just be sure to tip well.
The party was all about Braunwyn, of course
We're glad that she got to enjoy herself given how sad she feels about this chapter of her life closing.
This photo from the aftershow is just the best picture of Shannon and Braunwyn that we've ever seen.
Speaking of good photos
This may not be the most flattering photo of Emily, who is a truly beautiful woman, but this is definitely our favorite picture of her.
Braunwyn had fun
That's what matters. That her guests had varying levels of fun is a testament that she can throw a good, wild party. But this was like a retirement party -- so it's all about Braunwyn.
We know that she'd happily have dozens more children if she had the embryos left, but we're glad that she continues to have the emotional support of her friends and loved ones.
