Most of us how our doubts at first, but now it's really looking like the breakup of Jenelle Evans and David Eason is the real thing, right?
And thank goodness for that.
Their relationship has always been awful from what we could tell - and honestly there's nothing that could have happened behind closed doors to justify the things we've seen from them.
But you know what the funny thing is?
Both Jenelle and David are really starting to open up about their feelings on the split ... and it looks like they thought their marriage was gross, too!
Jenelle's relationship with David has always been awful. We know that because it's a relationship of Jenelle's, and there's really never any real chance that those are going to be OK.
But we also know that because once they started dating, it didn't take long for him to start appearing on Teen Mom 2 ... and boy, what a big ol' heap of trash he was there.
We watched as he slowly cut her off from everyone else in her life, we watched him belittle her kids ... it was bad.
He was kicked off the show last year after going on a nasty homophobic rant, but thanks to social media and leaked 911 recordings, we were able to keep up with how quickly things were escalating -- it got really scary down there on the swamp.
Jenelle called 911 last October and told the operator that he'd knocked her down so hard she thought he'd broken her collarbone, and she called again in December to say that he was destroying their property because he'd gotten angry over something and she was hiding out in the attic.
It was also in Decemeber when he received that visit from the Secret Service for seemingly threatening to kill the president on Instagram.
And there were several times over the course of their marriage that David was accused of abusing Kaiser -- Nathan and his mother claimed that when they got him for their visits, they saw bruises on more than one occasion, and they even said that the poor kid had told them that David had hit him.
And then, of course, there was the untimely death of Jenelle's dog, Nugget, at the hands of David -- he killed the poor dog because it barely nipped at Ensley's face. Because why bother teaching a child how to interact with animals or training a dog to be gentle with children when you can just grab your shotgun?
That almost cost Jenelle the custody of her children -- they were all temporarily removed from the home, and they went to trial and everything before she got them back.
And throughout all this, every single bit of this, she kept trying to convince everyone that David was a good guy, that he was misunderstood, that she really loved him and he was a really amazing father/husband/human being.
And then suddenly she was done.
Last month, when the Teen Mom 2 cast was filming the reunion, she travelled to New York as well to meet with MTV executives. We haven't heard a ton about the meeting, but apparently the discussed the possibility of her coming back to the network in some way.
The news was a bit odd -- not because of the news itself, because it makes sense that MTV would want Jenelle back, she's reality TV gold, but because she went by herself, leaving David at home with the kids.
Reports started coming out that Jenelle had left without telling David, which was even weirder, but when she released her statement on Halloween, it all made sense -- she was starting the process of divorcing him, and she'd left the swamp with Ensley and Kaiser.
After she made the statement, things happened very quickly -- she fled the whole ding dang state of North Carolina, and she obtained a temporary restraining order against him after proving abuse.
At first, David acted like he was heartbroken -- he posted nauseating things on Facebook about not being able to eat or sleep without his darling Jenelle by his side.
That was followed by a bit of social media silence, and Jenelle really hadn't been posting much anywhere either, but now? Well, now they seem to be a little more open to discussing their split with their followers.
And they both seem to be just truly thrilled that they don't have to be married to each other anymore.
Taking It Fine
Earlier this week, David posted this on Facebook -- he wrote "Glad u people think I am taking this so hard. Just so u all know I am so very much happier and so is Maryssa! Finally peaceful!"
To be fair, people think he's so heartbroken because he talked about being heartbroken several times, but sure, cool.
When someone commented to ask him if he'd allow Maryssa to continue to have some kind of relationship with Jenelle, he just commented "lmao," probably because Jenelle was never a doting stepmother to her.
And when someone else left a comment referencing Jenelle's claim that he'd once locked Kaiser in a car and wouldn't let him out, he said "Nathan is the one who locked Kaiser in the car wtf," because of course he did.
Sounds About Right
As for Jenelle, she hasn't said too much since releasing her big statement a few weeks ago ... but she has been speaking through memes!
Like this one that reads "You've mastered survival mode. Now it's time to live."
And that's pretty sad, right? Like she's been spending the last few years just trying to survive. We can believe that, easy.
Then she shared this little story about Cassie, Diddy's ex, who is currently pregnant and engaged to the guy she started dating after splitting from Diddy. It's a story about not staying with someone just because you've invested so much time into them, because you could be missing out on your soulmate. Hear that, David?
Then there's this Rugrats meme, which really just speaks for itself.
Here's one about lying, which could mean that she's calling David a liar. This one is a little more complex.
So Many Possibilities
Was he lying when he called her loose? Or when he said he was taking her to court to expose her? Or when he seemed to say that she was actually the abusive one in their marriage?
David's made so many comments about her that it's hard to say.
Then she shared this about how all she wants for Christmas is for her kids to be healthy and happy, and that's kind of sad, right?
We've heard that Maryssa testified against Jenelle and David in the custody case a few months back, Jace has made it clear that he doesn't like David, and as we said earlier, Kaiser has allegedly told people that David hits him ... so it's probably safe to say they'll be happier without him around.
A Good List
Finally, Jenelle shared this list of goals -- apparently she wants to quit fearing change, living in the past, etc.
Look, of course it's so much easier to share something on Facebook about changing your life than it is to, you know, actually change it, but we hope this is all a sign that Jenelle is really considering everything and committing herself to making changes for herself and her children.
We know, we know, it's a lot to hope for -- David was and is so awful that he overshadows Jenelle's own negative qualities, but they definitely exist.
She picks the worst guys, she jumps into relationships way too fast, she chooses men over her children and she seems to base her entire personality around the guys she dates.
