You would think that with her role on a popular reality show and her millions of social media followers, Jenelle Evans would receive plenty of attention.
But the Carolina Hurricane is always in need of more.
Which is probably why Jenelle pretended to be separated from David Eason earlier this year.
Don’t get us wrong, the Easons appear to have a deeply troubled marriage, complete with abuse and infidelity allegations.
And it looks as though they actually have separated on multiple occasions.
But this latest split? Well, it appears that Jenelle and David clumsily attempted to pull off a publicity stunt hoax — and failed miserably.
The Happy Couple
Jenelle and David usually attempt to give the impression that they’re the happiest couple on reality television.
Nice Try
Obviously, no one buys the routine, especially since the Easons marital issues are so severe that they’re unable to conceal them from the public.
Never Forget
The abuse allegations against Eason have been the most severe incidents, but there have been numerous other hardships, including several that led Jenelle and David to publicly call it quits.
Changing Tactics
Occasionally, the Easons adopt an “if you can’t beat ’em, join ’em” approach, and drum up some publicity by calling attention to their marital troubles.
The Con
And so it was that in February of 2019, Jenelle and David attempted to convince their social media followers that they had called it quits.
Too Subtle
Jenelle posted that she was “single af” on Facebook and tweeted the question “where’s my husband?” to her followers.
Hammering the Point Home
In case you somehow didn’t get the message still, Jenelle changed her Facebook relationship status from “married” to “separated.”
Go Big or Go Home
David took things one step further, changing his Facebook status from “married” to “single.”
Disappearing Act
Other than that, David vanished from social media, seemingly to give the impression that he had left the Land and his whereabouts were unknown.
Masterminds
Unfortunately, despite the power of their combined genius, David and Jenelle were unable to pull off this charade.
The Cracks Begin to Show
From the start, David and Jenelle didn’t seem terribly committed to their ruse.
Probably For the Best
David’s method was simply to disappear from social media entirely. So obviously, there were some positive aspects of this mess.
Making An Effort
Jenelle tried her best to act single by posting about enjoying nights out on the town with her girlfriends. But no one really bought it.
Not Enough Drama
For one thing, every time Jenelle and David split up in the past, there were reports of intense drama on the Land.
All Quiet
Apparently, the Easons forgot that we all know they’re both rage monsters. They neglected to stage even a single fight.
Mother Goose
This week, Jenelle began posting photos of the Easons’ latest animal acquisitions, and her wedding ring can clearly be seen in several photos.
Dave on the Land
Eason, meanwhile, is no longer attempting to hide the fact that he’s still living at home.
Cutting Their Losses
Basically, it looks as though Jenelle and David realized they can’t pull this thing off and they simply gave up.
But Why?
It begs the question, of course — why would these two go to such great lengths simply to try and convince people they’ve broken up?
At Least They Had a Reason?
In a word: money. The theory among fans is that Jenelle hoped to stir up enough drama to convince MTV execs to re-hire David and allow him to resume filming scenes for TM2.

Not surprisingly, David and Jenelle were not up to the task of fooling millions of social media followers and several highly paid execs and producers. Who would’ve thought?!
