Earlier today, we discussed the imminent custody battle between Jenelle Evans and David Eason.
We weren't exactly going out on a limb in our prediction that it would soon turn ugly.
After all, these two are both known for their short fuses, and it doesn't take much to set either of them off.
But while we knew the fireworks were coming, we didn't think the situation would become quite so explosive quite so soon.
In the past 24 hours, both Jenelle and David have contacted (or threatened to contact) the police.
Now, that the law is involved, the facts are coming out quickly -- and David is looking worse than ever.
Here's everything about the situation at this point:
The Formerly Happy Couple
The situation between David Eason and Jenelle Evans intensified rapidly today. Jenelle announced their separation last week, and now, David has issued a statement of his own.
On October 31, Jenelle posted a lengthy statement to her Instagram page in which she stated that she had reached the decision to end her marriage.
For the Kids ... And For Herself
"Like anyone else, I want what's best for my kids, and I want to be happy," Jenelle wrote.
Better Late Than Never
“The kids and I have moved away from David," Jenelle stated on the second page of her informal announcement.
The End of the War
"Nobody gets into a marriage expecting it to end but I know that’s what is best for me, and for my kids," she continued. "Today I’ve filed papers to start that process."
The announcement wasn't a total shock, as it came on the heels of several days in which David hinted at marital troubles in his Facebook posts.
Somewhat Tame ... By His Standards
Eason is known for his violent temper, and the fact that his posts were more self-pitying than enraged led many to suspect that he and Jenelle may be staging the separation so that she could be re-hired by MTV.
Getting Ahead of Herself
Adding to the suspicion was the fact that David confirmed the claim made by several media outlets that Jenelle has not yet filed for divorce or legal separation.
The Powder Keg Explodes
But David's most recent post ought to be enough to convince the skeptics that this separation is real -- and getting uglier by the day.
Getting the Law Involved
“So since Jenelle has disappeared and I have no contact with her or Ensley,” Eason wrote on Facebook moments ago, “I have no option but to file a missing person’s report.”
The Real Reason
According to a new report from The Ashley's Reality Roundup, Jenelle has been granted a restraining order against David, which may explain why he suddenly decided to file a missing persons report.
“The restraining order was granted because Jenelle was able to show proof [to the judge] that abuse had occurred,” a source tells The Ashley.
An Important Step
The filing marks a major step forward in Evans' efforts to free herself from Eason, and not only because she now enjoys increased protection under the law.
The Process Begins
“Now that David’s been served, she can begin the divorce proceedings," the insider adds.
A Necessary Precaution
Of course, Jenelle didn't file for a restraining order simply to speed up the divorce process. The insider says she legitimately fears for her safety, as well as the safety of her children.
Keeping Her Distance
“Jenelle is in hiding,” the source says. “She has no plans to return to The Land."
Playing It Safe
"She has left the state and does not plan to come back to North Carolina for her stuff or anything. The kids are with her,” the insider continues.
Free At last
While some media outlets are still reporting on Jenelle's recent travels, we will no longer be doing so, for the sake of her safety.
A Strategic Move
Jenelle's primary reason for taking up temporary residence in another state is that she wants to put as much distance as possible between herself and her abuser. But there's another reason, as well ...
Speeding Up the Process
“She has not filed yet because if she files in North Carolina, she has to wait a full year and be separated before she can file for divorce in that state,” The Ashley's source says.
"She is going to file in [another state] so that she can bypass that," the tipster adds.
As for David's claim that he planned to file a missing persons report, it seems he's partially followed through on that threat.
He's Still Awful
“Columbus County Emergency Services confirmed to Radar that David contacted authorities on November 5. The Columbus County Sheriff’s Office revealed a report had been made, but has not yet been filed,” Radar Online reported moments ago.
Not the First Time, But Hopefully the Last
Jenelle has left David in the past, but as far as we know, the couple has never been separated for this long before, and this is the first time she's taken legal action against her husband.
The Nugget Incident
The Eason's relationship has reportedly on the decline ever since April, when David shot and killed Jenelle's French bulldog, Nugget.
The incident led to a CPS investigation that caused Jenelle to briefly lose custody of her children. It also cost her her job on Teen Mom 2.
A Common Mistake
Jenelle left David in response to his violent tantrum, but she got back together with him shortly thereafter.
A Step In the Right Direction
This time, family and friends are hoping that Jenelle will be able to rid herself of David for good.
Credit Where It's Due
And while we've been critical of Evans' behavior in the past, we applaud her for her courageous behavior over the past week and for taking steps to protect herself and her children.
More to Come ...
We'll have further updates on this developing story as more information becomes available.
