Last week, 90 Day Fiance: Happily Ever After? star Ashley Martson revealed that she is entering rehab.
Or so we all thought. She gave interviews about her brave choice and discussed it on social media.
Now she’s saying that some fans and reports have the wrong idea.
Unfortunately, Ashley can no longer correct any misunderstandings on social media.
She has deleted her Instagram account.
Fortunately, she released a statement to explain why she made this choice, and she hopes that fans will understand.
Her ex-husband, Jay Smith, has replied with some words of his own — and accused her of being a habitual liar.
Oh no!

Ashley Martson has deleted her previously VERY active Instagram. Here, we’ll walk you through her final social media activity before she called it quits, and we also have her statement on why she cut herself off from her own fans. Take a look:
Ashley watched the episode Sunday night

But that’s the last that she intends to watch, she explains. Because she was going to focus on her mental health, and reliving Jay’s cheating was the opposite of that.
Is she really in rehab?

In this Q&A over the weekend, she says yes. She is seeking treatment for depression to get her mental health in order.
How does she stay so strong?

Ashley confesses to her fans and followers that she’s struggling more than she lets on.
How does she feel about her “edit?”

You know how a lot of reality stars complain that editing only shows one side of their lives? Well, Ashley says that what viewers are seeing is as real and raw as it gets.
Is she dating someone new?

“OH HELL NO” is a great response to a lot of things. We get it. She needs time.
What will it take before she looks for love again?

Ashley wants to get her mental health in order before she opens herself up to more drama with someone new. We hear that.
How does she cope?

Ashley explains to a fan that having a solid support system of friends and family who love her and are affirming is the key, but not a magic bullet.
Hooray for being a good mom!

Sadly, federal law has not caught up with the times to fully protect minors on reality television (or monetized social media, such as YouTube). But Ashley is putting her kids first — which means keeping them out of the view of the cameras.
Seriously

Even on social media, THIS is the most that we’ve really gotten to see of her kids. If more reality stars would take their children’s well being more seriously, we’d live in a better world.
Did reality TV ruin her marriage?

Nope — that was all Jay’s doing, she explains. 90 Day Fiance wasn’t the one boning other girls.
Is the show scripted?

Ashley says no. A lot of reality shows will outline storylines to cover, while others will just have pushy producers. 90 Day Fiance, according to reports from people who’ve filmed but not signed NDAs, falls into the latter category, where producers will push the envelope. Whether you go along with their suggestions is a personal choice — it’s the Milgram experiment all over again.
Does Ashley have future plans for her reality career?

Can you imagine Ashley as The Bachelorette? Because we absolutely can.
Maybe she just needs a fresh start?

Ashley says that she wouldn’t want to uproot her two kids — she’s SUCH a good mom — from their education and friends.
So here’s where things get more interesting

Jay Smith posted this throwback to Instagram, where he’s flexing his arms. Notably, this picture is in Ashley’s living room. Was he back with her? Was he staying at her house while she was gone? Ashley and Jay were both bombarded with these questions.
Reading. Is. Fundamental.

He spells it out in his tags — this is a throwback photo. Folks, he’s not even wearing his hair like this these days.
Ashley was tired of the questions

She admonished him for posting a throwback that she knew would confuse fans (let’s be real — not everybody reads the tags). She also informed him that she had left his stuff for him. She wasn’t holding onto it anymore.
Jay threw some shade back

His “thank you” is clearly insincere, and he’s obviously suggesting that she’s an unkind person for publicly blasting him under his selfie — and perhaps for returning his belongings in the way that she did.
Jay also memed about it

So he took it in good humor, at least. Honestly? Ashley showed Jay a lot more kindness than he castmate Colt Johnson reportedly did towards Larissa Lima after their breakup, when she accused him of deactivating her phone and keeping a lot of her belongings.
They exchanged heated words

When Ashley did a social media interview, Jay lashed out at her. It seems like he’s been getting tired of the world hearing her side of the story, and not his.
Then Ashley made a request of fans

Some people misunderstand what “rehab” means. It’s not always for alcohol or opioids or self-injury. But she wants it clear that the North Carolina place she’s going is just a place for her to work on her mental health, not a detox center or a hospital. TO BE FAIR, she had previously seemed okay with the place being characterized as a rehab.
And then this happened

Ashley deleted her Instagram on Tuesday, June 18.
She did, at least, explain her decision.

“I can’t do it anymore,” Ashley’s statement to 90 Day Fiance blogger John Yates begins. “I am making myself look stupid stooping to Jay’s level.”
The “feedback” from fans is so hurtful

“I loved someone whole heartedly and got burned badly,” Ashley expresses. “Having women attack me and support his actions is disgusting.”
She wants to move on

“I am trying to move past this,” Ashley states. “And better myself.”
She admits she needs time to cool off

“I clearly don’t have control at this point to not comment or not allow him to get the best of me,” Ashley acknowledges. She says that this is “because I am still very emotional about the situation.”
But she isn’t deleting forever!

“I will sign back on after treatment,” Ashley assures her fans. “And hopefully will learn coping mechanisms to not lash out towards someone who hurt me so badly.”
As for Jay himself …

“I wish him the best in life,” Ashley writes. “And am just going to allow the system handle him.”
She ends with a shoutout to her fans

“Thank you to everyone who has supported me and sent kind messages,” Ashley concludes.
Jay had something to say about that, too

He says that Ashley is just running away because she’s been “lying since day one.” FYI, this is not the time or place to call your ex-wife “sweetheart.”
Maybe there’s something coming up soon

Maybe 90 Day Fiance viewers will soon see something that she’d sooner avoid, or maybe all of the comments are just too much.
We wish her the best!

We hope that her retreat does her a world of good and we are pumped for her eventual return to social media — happier and healthier than ever before.
