Ashley Martson may still love Jay Smith on some level, but their marriage is over. It's for the best.
He cheated on her -- using Tinder right after their wedding, and again later during their marriage.
And based upon what Ashley has said on social media, that may just be the tip of the iceberg.
But she has, on screen and on social media, expressed a lot of anger towards the women who were on the receiving end of Jay's extramarital affections.
Now, Ashley has wisened up. She's no longer crusading against "homewreckers."
In a new post, Ashley declares one of Jay's alleged "other women" as being innocent.
Ashley is laying the blame where it belongs
We've seen Ashley, on social media and on screen, express her fury at Jay's mistresses. In a new Instagram Story, Ashley tells her fans that she no longer feels that way.
Ashley and Jay are over
On April 15, Ashley took to Instagram to accuse Jay of having screwed up yet again ... and to gloat about his likely deportation.
They broke up
Larissa didn't announce, technically, that she and Jay had split. Larissa did it for her.
Who was Ashley to deny it?
Real talk: we're not sure if that's usually a safe way to get around an NDA, but fans still have enough questions about Jay's cheating to keep watching the show to find out what happened.
Jay cheated again
Ashley didn't just insinuate it on social media -- she put it there, in writing, on page 5 of her divorce filing.
Ashley's fury didn't just extend to Jay
After the word was out, she took aim at his alleged mistress, accusing her of being a homewrecker. That is, of course, not a thing -- Jay could be accused of it, but a third party cannot be blamed for the end of their marriage.
She even shared evidence
The now-deleted post included a visual glimpse at a yard where Jay and the alleged "other woman" spent time.
But Jay says she's wrong
Jay insisted that he didn't meet up with that particular woman until April 10.
Jay said that he and Ashley had already broken up by April 10.
Now, Ashley's single
Though she did mention having gone on a date or two and being open to something more, right now she's mostly just focused on getting over her marriage.
She still loves him
Ashley admitted that it's not as simple as flipping a switch. She loves Jay, but knows that if she tried to work things out, it wouldn't work. Translation -- if Jay has cheated on her this much, he'll just continue to do so.
Also, celebrating Jay's deportation was premature
He had a court date on May 8, but things ended up being handled outside of court. No, we don't know the details, but he and Ashley spent that day doing a photoshoot.
How does she stay so strong after all of this?
Ashley says that it's just an act -- performative happiness, confidence, and strength -- for her Instagram followers.
See, that wasn't Jay's first cheating scandal
Which helps to explain why Ashley feels so emotionally gutted these days.
Right after their wedding last year, Jay cheated
He downloaded Tinder and very quickly started making new "friends." It's not difficult to see why he had immediate success. What we do not understand is why in the world he would download a wedding app right after tying the knot.
Ashley caught him
He was video chatting with another young woman, making plans to meet -- in Ashley's home, no less.
She decided to try to make it work
As we've seen on 90 Day Fiance: Happily Ever After? ... it took her weeks to sort through her furious feelings on the subject.
And oh by the way ...
The girl with whom Jay was extramaritally video chatting last year? She was a high schooler. Yes, she was 18 and an adult. And yes, with just a two year age gap, Jay wasn't going out of his way to be creepy (just to cheat). But that added an extra layer of uncertainty to Ashley's choice.
So how does she feel now?
Ashley has revealed that she did finally speak to Jay's alleged mistress -- the one from the Tinder cheating scandal. And she's now confident that the girl had no idea that Jay was married. She was a victim of lies, not a would-be homewrecker.
That was very correct of Ashley
Jay was the one who involved the high school student in their marriage and their drama, not Ashley. Like Ashley, we also wish that the girl hadn't been shown on 90 Day Fiance, even if we understand why the show was eager to do so.
Her anger is in the right place
Jay is the one who cheated. We hope that Ashley also realizes that he might have told any other woman whatever he liked -- that he was single, or that his marriage was just a sham for reality TV -- in order to get into her pants. We've seen the same from other 90 Day Fiance stars in the past.
We look forward to learning the "shocking" truth at the 90 Day Fiance: Happily Ever After? Season 4 Tell All special. Ashley has warned fans that, when they learn the whole story behind her breakup with Jay, they will be scandalized.
