Amber Portwood is now a mother of two!
Early this morning, she gave birth to James Andrew Glennon, her second child and her first with Andrew Glennon.
But while the baby news is very exciting, we're still super intrigued by her relationship with Andrew.
And that's for many, many reasons ...
First off, let's get this out of the way: Amber and Andrew just welcomed a child together, but they've known each other for less than a year.
And we know, we know, sometimes you fall in love quick or forget how to use birth control or whatever, but they met when Amber was filming Marriage Boot Camp with Matt Baier. Like, they met when Amber was making that face in the photo above.
What a Gem!
Andrew was working behind the scenes on the show, and he's said that he developed a crush on Amber while filming her. Which, if you've seen any bit of footage at all from Amber's season of Marriage Boot Camp, you know is literally insane.
Falling in Love
Amber was the HOTTEST mess on Marriage Boot Camp. Constantly yelling and screaming and arguing and just generally being difficult. It's hard to imagine that Andrew could have been watching that and thought "yeah, I'd like to get to know that lady better," but apparently that's what happened.
So after filming wrapped, Amber went back to Indiana and Andrew stayed in L.A., but, wouldn't you know it, he creeped her on Twitter and they started talking. After a few weeks, she invited him out for a visit, and he never left. He literally never left.
Not a Great Start
If you're thinking that story sounds familiar, that's because it does: Matt Baier also contacted Amber on Twitter, and after visiting her once, he pretty much set up shop in her house. But Andrew was different, because reasons Amber made up to justify repeating the same dumb mistakes.
So Andrew "came to visit," and at the time, Amber said that they were taking things slow and just getting to know each other. But it seems like she has different methods of getting to know someone, because within the month, she was pregnant.
What a Time to Be Alive
We creeped on Amber's uterus a little bit, and if she had a due date of May 13th, then 40 weeks since then would have been August 13th -- a few days after we first saw photos of these two together. So ... that's something.
In mid-September, they were on their way to a vacation in Hawaii when Amber began feeling ill. When they arrived, she told him that she felt the way she did when she was pregnant with Leah. She took a pregnancy test, and her feelings were confirmed. As you can see in the video, it was not necessarily good news at the time.
What a Creep
But before Amber found out she was having a baby with this guy, she found out something else: that he has a seriously shady dating history that involves restraining orders and stalking accusations.
Two of his exes have filed restraining orders against him because they claimed he stalked and harassed them after the breakups. And instead of telling her himself, he let her find out when the internet found out.
At the time, Andrew released a pretty creepy statement about the whole thing, saying that the news of the restraining orders was "jeopardizing our relationship, which tears my heart." He said that she was thinking about what to do, and that a breakup was possible, but "Amber is such a beautiful soul, I love her so much, and I really want to start this relationship with nothing but honesty."
Nope Nope Nope
He loved her beautiful soul so much after less than a month of dating that he couldn't bear to think that his two restraining orders from two previous girlfriends could tear them apart. Just think about how awful that sounds.
She didn't have to think about things too long though, because we all know what happened next.
Surprisingly, from what we saw on the show, Amber was pretty serene during her pregnancy -- serene for her, anyway. She still yelled at Andrew when he dared to suggest that maybe they could buy gender neutral clothes and nursery stuff and find out the baby's sex at birth.
Also she would lay in bed, vomit in bags, then have Andrew dispose of the bags for her. Which isn't immediately relevant, but how are we going to talk about Amber's pregnancy and not bring up that nastiness?
First Comes Baby, Then Comes Marriage?
In an interview last month, Amber revealed that even though she was pregnant, they weren't talking about marriage. Instead, she said that "we're happily living together and seeing where everything goes. Obviously, we jumped the gun and we're having a baby, but I don't know."
"He drops little hints here and there about things," she admitted, "but we haven't necessarily talked about it."
This fits with what happened on the reunion show a couple of weeks ago -- they were asked about the possibility of getting married, and Amber dismissed the idea, but Andrew admitted that he'd been checking out places for possible proposals. She was shocked at that, and honestly she didn't seem super excited about it.
It's a Boy!
Maybe Amber wasn't interested in talking about marriage because she was focusing on the baby -- who, by the way, arrived today!
His name is James Andrew Glennon, and both he and Amber are doing well. Amber hasn't released any kind of statement yet, and understandably so, but she has been retweeting stories about the big news.
As for Andrew, he posted a photo of himself in a boat last night (???) and announced that he was "heading to the hospital."
Adorably, a source tells People that Amber is "over the moon" about her new baby, and that he was born at 1:39 AM, weighing in at 7 pounds, 11 ounces.
A Happy Family
She may be over the moon now, but what happens when it's time to leave the hospital and go home, and she's responsible for a little tiny baby's every need?
Best of Luck!
We're hoping that Amber and Andrew can tough out this difficult stage, that their new relationship can take all the stress that comes with a new baby ... yeah, let's just hope for that, OK?
