Michael David Barrett, 48, was arrested for the Erin Andrews peephole video scandal as he arrived at O’Hare airport Friday night.
Barrett, an insurance executive, allegedly traveled to at least two states, learned which hotel rooms Andrews was staying in, altered peepholes to those rooms, and secretly videotaped her nude as she undressed, according to the FBI.
The Chicago man faces federal charges of interstate stalking, for taking the nude videos, trying to sell them to TMZ, and posting eight of them online.
TMZ did not post the videos, however, they later appeared on other sites.
Andrews issued a statement Saturday morning, thanking the FBI and federal prosecutors.”For my part, I will make every effort to strengthen the laws on a State and Federal level to better protect victims of criminal stalking,” she said.
Barrett has a bond hearing in U.S. District Court Saturday morning.
