According to a frightening new report, controversial TV personality Wendy Williams has been taken to a hospital in New York City due to erratic behavior that allegedly includes a suicide attempt.

Yikes, right?

To be clear, not many details are available at the moment regarding what happened to the 55-year-old Williams.

And also to be clear, no one from Wendy’s camp has confirmed this report, which surfaced earlier today.

In fact, the report only went viral due to a YouTube video created by a blogger who goes by Tasha K.

So, is this even credible? How did this "news" even get out?

With that background info in mind, here is what we do know:

We first learned about the apparent suicide attempt from the popular celebrity gossip website All About the Tea.

This article alleges that Williams was "taken to New York Presbyterian hospital for trying to kill herself and checked in to the hospital."

The report says she did so "under a fake name."

It goes on to document all the reasons why those close to the talk show host were concerned enough to call the authorities.

Williams was "[talking to herself, [had] barely slept, paced around, and refused to eat and drink," this report states.

Those may sound like how anyone might behave on an "off" day or if they are agitated, but they can also be psychological red flags.

But then, the report added something much more troubling.

"Her head was shaved as doctors in the neurology department were monitoring her brain," the report alleged.

If true, despite all the negative things we’ve written about Williams over the years, this is all deeply upsetting.

We can only send her our very best wishes right now. We hope that she has a fully and speedy recovery.

Williams went through a public and messy divorce in 2019 after it became known that her husband fathered a child with his mistress.

Various outlets wrote at the time that Williams was well aware that Kevin Hunter had a woman on the side for several years.

But that she let the affair slide… until she could not anymore.

In the face of criticism from fans, and clearly after a lot of soul searching herself, Wendy ultimately put her foot down after the love child was born.

At that point, the affair could no longer remain a secret to her viewers.

Williams and Hunter have since filed for divorce.

On top of these personal problems, Williams has also been suffering from health problems that have bled into her professional life.

The 55-year-old daytime host announced on May 18, for example, that she would be taking time off from The Wendy Williams Show.

She explained at the time that this was due to “fatigue” from her Graves’ disease.

She memorably took a break in early 2018 for the same medical condition, returning to the air after about a month.

After that’s when she then appeared on Good Morning America with a health update.

Explaining that she was "very deficient of vitamin D," Williams said "there was just a mess going on inside my body."

So, to reiterate, we don’t know for certain whether this report is accurate.

However, if Williams is truly going through some mental health issues, there are definitely a few reasons why this would make sense.

Her marriage has crumbled, in embarrassing fashion, while her body is also failing her and this condition is affecting her job.

As noted previously, we’ve been harsh critics of Williams for the way she talks about people on her talk show.

But we would never wish any of this on even our worse enemy.

We’ll keep Wendy in our thoughts.
