It's hard to believe, but it's been over three years since Kourtney Kardashian finally dumped Scott Disick and made it stick.
(The couple had parted ways several times before, but they always seemed to find their way back to each other. No more.)
These days, Scott is dating Sofia Richie, and it appears that despite a large age gap, the relationship is very serious.
In fact, there have been rumors that Scott, who was never married or engaged to Kourtney, is planning to propose.
Allegedly he's thinking about popping the question on Christmas. Suffice it to say, he's very much in love with Sofia.
Despite that, it seems Scott is still having a hard time letting go of his feelings for Kourtney, with whom he has three kids.
According to a new report from Hollywood Life, Kourtney is back together with her own much younger love, Younes Bendjima.
Scott doesn't like this one bit.
The celebrity gossip outlet says that while he's in love with Sofia and not pining for Kourtney, this still gets under his skin.
“Scott is happier than ever with Sofia, but it’s still really hard for him to see her with another guy,” a source tells the site.
“He tries really hard not to look or pay attention.”
The insider says that Scott accepts full responsibility for the fact that his tumultuous relationship with Kourtney didn't work out.
He knows he was a drunken, sometimes irresponsible mess for years, and still finds himself overcome with regret at times.
"He owns this,” the source continues.
“Scott will always have a real deep love for Kourtney and he knows it’ll never work because of things he’s done in the past."
“He’s such a different person now," the insider continues, but thanks to Younes, "it’s really been hard for him lately.”
So Scott is in love with someone new, but he still feels himself irresistibly drawn to the mother of his children.
Perhaps because he knows he did her wrong and doesn't want to see her receive the same shoddy treatment from another?
Complex emotions, to say the least.
No wonder reality shows tend to have a longer shelf life than scripted dramas. They may play up their "characters" on TV for entertainment's sake, but deep down, it's still real life.
Fortunately, it seems that Scott's self awareness is as real as his past f--k ups, and he's not dumb enough to try and recocile with Kourtney,
He likely realizes that any such attempt would torpedo both his romance with Sofia, and his amicable co-parenting relationship with Kourtney.
The insider is certainly right when they say that Scott has changed considerably since his time with Kourtney came to n end.
He's not only less self-destructive, he's also smarter and subdued, focusing on his kids, his girlfriend and his house-flipping business.
So hopefully, he can figure out a way to help protect Kourtney from guys like him without meddling in her life too much.
