Days after saying goodbye to one parent, Mackenzie McKee has written beautifully about another.
As you likely know by now, the Teen Mom veteran lost her mother on December 9, as Angie Douthit died of brain cancer about two years after her initial diagnosis.
The MTV personality paid heartbreaking tribute to her mother at the time.
Now, however, Mackenzie has shifted her focus for a moment to her father, honoring him on his birthday by posting several photos and by writing the following caption:
Happy birthday Daddy. Thank you for showing the world and us kids what true, unconditional, and Christ like love looks like. I’ve never seen anyone love as hard as you loved my @angiedouthit .
I don’t understand any of this and never will. You are so loved and we are here to take care of you.
Fans in the Comments section clearly felt for Mackenzie’s entire family after the loss of Angie.
“Happy birthday to your dad. He’s a wonderful man. May God give him the strength to celebrate his day,” one person wrote.
“Happy birthday to your dad. May beautiful memories of the wonderful life with your mom make him smile when he’s so sad."
Earlier this week, a message on Angie's official Instagram page confirmed her passing.
"On Monday, December 9 at 11:37pm, Angie finished her race," it read, along with a picture of Angie completing a marathon.
And it continued:
"Her last days were spent lovingly surrounded by family and friends as they prayed, sang, and shared funny Angie stories."
This same post then encouraged followers to inspire one another:
You can choose this day to be like Angie and use your social media engagements to make a difference rather than disaster, to spread love and not hate, and to always be kind.
We know many people around the world read these posts so drop your city and country name in the comments so we can see where you are!
And these were the hashtags used to conclude the post: #staystrongmightywarrior #itsonlycancer #alwaysbekind.
McKee, who has gotten a tattoo to honor her mother, also shared words of painful wisdom in response to the tragedy.
"Your entire life you never waisted a chance to let the world know Gods love," Mackenzie wrote, addressing Angie and adding:
"When we would try to brag on what an amazing person you are you would respond with ‘it’s not me, it’s God.’ Could you imagine this world if we all lived like Angie Douthit?"
"Momma, i did not deserve you. But you loved me so unconditionally. You were the glue that held me together.
"The one who always believed in me. Idk what I will do without you but I hope this goes by fast so I can hurry and come be with you."
We're about to break down in tears, but this is how Mackenzie concluded:
You passed a torch down to us and I will not fail you. I will live for Christ and love like him like you always taught me. I will make you proud momma.
We continue to keep Mackenzie and her loved ones in our thoughts.
