J.P. Rosenbaum could use your prayers right about now.

As revealed by wife Ashley Hebert on Sunday, the Bachelorette alum has been diagnosed with Guillain-Barré syndrome.

We’ll let Hebert take it from here…

“JP was diagnosed with Guillain-Barré syndrome yesterday,” Ashley posted on her Instagram Stories on December 8.

She then added as an important part of her update:

“He is in treatment and doing well. It may be a long road to full recovery, but we are so grateful to everyone that has helped us get to a speedy diagnosis and treatment.”

What is Guillain-Barré syndrome, we’re sure many readers are now asking?

"Yeah, I had to Google that one too," J.P. joked on his own social media post, alongside a photograph of him at the hospital.

According to Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the ex-Bachelorette suitor’s diagnosis is a rare autoimmune disorder, in which a person’s immune system can cause damage to the nerves, weaken the muscles and occasionally even cause paralysis.

It can be serious, in other words.

But there’s no way of knowing right now just where Rosenbaum falls on this scale or how bad it will get for him.

In a series of videos to his Instagram Stories, which featured the reality star lying in his hospital bed on Sunday, JP described the diagnosis as “very surreal and humbling and crazy, rare.”

He explained why:

“Things you do every day, like picking up this phone, or buttoning buttons, tying shoelaces, putting on deodorant, just can’t do it.

Picking up my kids, can’t do it. Wiping your ass, maybe TMI, but might have Ashley assist on the next one. Can’t really believe it.”

The Bachelorette star then told followers that he may need to be in the hospital for a few more days, while physicians continue to monitor and work out his symptoms.

"I know there’s lot of physical therapy in my future," he said.

There is no known cure for Guillain-Barré syndrome —  but treatments, including plasma exchange and immunoglobulin therapy, can relieve symptoms.

The couple met on season 7 of The Bachelorette and got married in December 2012, with Chris Harrison officiating the wedding.

They have two children, Fordham and Essex, and recently celebrated their seven-year wedding anniversary.

"7 years down, probably about 3-4 more to go. Happy anniversary to the woman responsible for all the love and happiness in this picture (and basically all my pictures for the last 7 years)," J.P. wrote in a heartwarming and funny Instagram post just last week.

As you can see above, Ashley has thanked fans for their support and advice.

We’ll continue to update this story as more information comes out.

For now, we’ll simply wish JP and his family nothing but the best.
