Well, the fall semester is upon us, but Lori Loughlin's daughters won't be sleeping through an advanced trig class anytime soon.
That's because Olivia Jade and Bella Giannulli dropped out of USC amid last year's college admissions bribery scandal, during which it was revealed their mother bought their way into USC.
For the former students, it seems the worst is behind them -- neither is facing any sort of legal repercussions, and Olivia is slowly rebuilding her career as an influencer.
For their parents, however, the real trouble is just beginning.
Unlike many of the other high-profile parents ensnared in the FBI's Varsity Blues sting operation, Loughlin declined a plea deal, which means there's a very real chance that she'll wind up serving a lengthy prison sentence.
Insiders say she declined the deal at the insistence of her husband, who also refused to cooperate with prosecutors.
“Lori was inclined to take the deal, but Mossimo said it would ruin both of their careers,” an insider close to the situation tells Us Weekly.
Now, repeated arguments over how best to proceed with their defense are reportedly tearing the couple apart.
“Their daughter Bella is extremely concerned they’re going to get divorced,” a different source tells the tabloid.
“The couple was advised by their lawyers not to,” the insider adds, “but Mossimo insisted, saying it would be a ‘zoo’ if they flew commercial.”
The source says Lori was in agreement with the couple's legal team, but in the end, they went with Mossimo's plan.
It may seem like a minor detail to quibble over, but those who know the couple best say it's indicative of the many ways in which their marriage is unraveling.
Friends of Lori's have reportedly advised her to leave Mossimo under the belief that she'll fare better in court if she's no longer with him.
This far, however, it seems the Full House actress has been resistant to their advice.
“Her friends think she should leave him,” says a third insider.
“But Lori refuses and says the ordeal has made them stronger.”
So for better or worse, it looks like Lori and Mossimo are in this thing together.
And it's looking more and more like they might fulfill their dreams for their daughters by spending several years on a state-run campus.
