So the long-running reality series would probably be headed for cancelation even if it weren't for the fact that its cast just can't stop assaulting people.
As you've probably heard by now, the OG of the OGs, Amber Portwood, was arrested on domestic violence charges after she allegedly assaulted boyfriend Andrew Glennon while he was holding the couple's 1-year-old son.
Glennon claims Amber came after him twice, once while wielding a machete.
He says she swallowed a handful of Klonopins and threatened suicide when he announced his intention to call the police.
She regurgitated the pills once he called 911.
For obvious reasons, Amber has lost custody of her son, and Glennon appears to have ended the couple's relationship.
Needless to say, it's a very ugly situation that will probably result in an equally ugly court battle as Amber fights to avoid serving jail time and
It's the kind of situation that Portwood's co-stars should probably decline to comment on until all the facts are in.
Or at the very least, they should do the thing where they offer vague words of encouragement without offering any specifics about where they stand on the allegations.
Ya know, what with a machete and an infant being involved and all.
But Catelynn Lowell has opted against that approach and has instead decided to express her full-throated support of Amber.
“There is always two sides to every story… u r only hearing one side sooo [peace] out I love you @AmberLPortwood,” Lowell tweeted on Wednesday.
“I’m on my way to you now," she added.
Following some intense backlash from fans, Lowell clarified her statement, arguing that she wasn't defending a woman who's been accused of violently brandishing a machete near an infant, she was simply defending her friend ... who's been accused of violently brandishing a machete near an infant.
"I DO NOT condone abuse! I AM supporting a friend In need!" Catelynn tweeted.
"That’s what friends are for when I went through all my crazy mental illness stuff my friend helped, me supported me, and loved me!!! And I’m going to do the same!"
Now, in general, it's best to err on the side of believing the victim in cases of domestic violence allegations.
But in the case of Amber -- a woman who has been involved in countless violent altercations and was even charged with felony domestic assault -- believing the victim should be a no-brainer.
And if you believe the victim, then you believe Amber ran at him with a machete while he was holding her infant son and tried to break the door down when he locked himself in a room!
Like we said, at this point, it looks like the cancelation of Teen Mom OG is imminent.
And we're starting to think the whole cast should be canceled right along with it.
