If you caught the 2019 Academy Awards back in February, you probably recall what may have been the only buzzed-about moment in the entire three-hour snoozefest.
We're talking, of course, about Bradley Cooper and Lady Gaga's performance of "Shallow," their Oscar-winning ballad from A Star Is Born.
The duet was so intimate that it often felt as though the audience was intruding on a private moment between lovers.
It also took place not long after Gaga called off her engagement to Christian Carino.
Considering the timing -- and the fact that Cooper and Gaga had just spent months on set collaborating on her feature film debut and his first directorial effort -- it's not surprising that many assumed there was more to their relationship than just mutual professional respect
And the fact that Cooper is reportedly on the outs with his longtime partner Irina Shayk is certain to get the rumor mill churning all over again:
Yes, after four years and one child together, Brad and Irina are apparently on the verge of going their separate ways.
“They haven’t been getting along for a while,” a source close to the estranged couple tells Us Weekly.
“They aren’t calling it quits yet, but they are not in a great place.”
Both parties have declined to comment on the separation, and the cause of the alleged split remains unclear.
But a rep for the pair insists that they're not parting ways due to infidelity.
The spokesperson insists the impending breakup has “nothing to do with Gaga.”
An insider assures Us that "nothing romantic” happened on the set of A Star Is Born.
Cooper and Gaga's performance on Oscar night so was so sultry that after the awards, Jimmy Kimmel asked Gaga about the romance rumors point-blank:
“Yes, people saw love. And guess what? That’s what we wanted you to see," she told the late night host.
"You know, I mean, this is a love song, ‘Shallow.’ The movie, A Star Is Born, it’s a love story,” she explained on Jimmy Kimmel Live! “We worked so hard. We worked all week on that performance.”
As for her split from Carino, Gaga has shied away from addressing it publicly, and sources close to the singer say she's not too keen on talking about it privately, either:
“Gaga has been in such a focus on her career right now and has not even had time to address what has been happening between her and Christian, emotionally,” this Us Weekly insider explains, adding:
“She has been telling those around her, ‘Let’s stay focused.’”
Hmm ... obviously, we're not saying Gaga and Bradley both ended their relationships in order to be with one another.
But at this point, would anyone really be shocked if they were spotted enjoying an intimate moment away from the Oscars stage?
