Earlier this week, Britney Spears postponed her world tour due to her father's health issues.
Now, despite a press release indicating that Jamie Spears is “expected to make a full recovery” after “almost dying,” insiders close to the family have indicated that Jamie is not “well at all.”
Sources tell Radar Online that Jamie is “seriously ill” after his colon “spontaneously ruptured" last week.
“He is having a lot of health complications that are stemming from his initial ruptured colon,” says the insider.
Recent updates from Jamie Lynn Spears gave fans the impression that her father is on the upswing.
But those closest to the situation say it will be a miracle if Jamie is able to pull through.
“Overall, his health is continuing to deteriorate and doctors have told him that he really needs to live on the straight and narrow, meaning that he cannot drink alcohol, or smoke, or do anything unhealthy from this point on," says the insider.
“He is not mobile like he once was and he pretty much spends his days confined to a bed."
The source adds that at 66, Jamie is young to be experiencing such severe health issues.
Even so, Britney and the rest of her family have been told to prepare for the worst.
Britney, who has often spoken at length about her close relationship with her father, is reportedly struggling to accept the reality of the situation.
“She is back and forth to Louisiana, but she is not doing great by any means,” the insider said.
“You can see it on her face.”
Insiders say Britney is currently finding strength from the support of boyfriend Sam Ashgari.
“She is not sleeping well and is really leaning on Sam right now as a source of support,” the source says.
“Thankfully, he is there for her as much as he can be.”
Britney postponed her tour over the weekend with a heartfelt message to fans:
"I’ve been looking forward to this show and seeing all of you this year, so doing this breaks my heart," the singer wrote on Facebook.
" However, it’s important to always put your family first… and that’s the decision I had to make.
"A couple months ago, my father was hospitalized and almost died."
"We’re all so grateful that he came out of it alive, but he still has a long road ahead of him,” she added.
We wish Britney and her family all the best during this difficult time.
