In the wake of Donald Trump being elected President of the United States, there has been a lot of backlash from people who don't want him as President.
Unfortunately, Trump's fans don't seem to be playing nice with the people who were opposing to him being elected.
Emmy Rossum is one of the people who have been targeted by Trump's legions of fans and it's pretty clear the people who targeted her don't have a brain cell between them.
We highly doubt Rossum will be the only one targeted. Considering the nature of the tweets, there's probably a whole online community of people picking who to target next.
It's pretty sad and it shows the people doing this have no lives.
30-year-old Rossum opened up to her 601,000 Twitter followers about being targeted and she's very upset.
Rightfully so. Being targeted like this is awful.
"Trump supporters are sending me messages threatening to send me & my ‘ilk’ to the gas chambers & writing hashtags like ‘#sieg hiel.’ NOT OK,” she tweeted in response.
“Telling anyone to ‘get ready for the trains’ in reference to WWII is disgusting & offensive. Reporting you to twitter is not enough. back off.”
Have a look at the tweet below:
It's completely disgusting that the Shameless star is receiving this sort of backlash. Yes, she aired her grievances about Trump being elected, but she didn't get personal with any of his fans.
Now, it seems like his fans are going on the offensive in any way possible.
Rossum closed off her retaliation with, “I am a woman. I am Jewish. I am marrying an Arab American. My sister in law is handicapped. I’m a victim of sexual violence. It’s personal.”
Rossum is engaged to Mr. Robot creator, Sam Esmail.
It's difficult to imagine just how bad this type of abuse would make one feel, and it's horrible to think people are trashing her for having an opinion on who she wanted to be President.
When the news emerged about Donald's victory, the Ku Klux Klan celebrated the victory, but a Trump spokesperson was quick to refute any association with the group.
Would his team really have responded positively?
“Mr. Trump and his team continue to disavow these groups and individuals and strongly condemn their message of hate.”
With a lot of people refusing to accept Donald Trump as the President, it remains to be seen just what will happen.
For now, it seems like the country is more divided than ever.
Emmy can currently be seen on Showtime's Shameless, which airs on Sundays at 9/8C.
