In the two days since the world learned that Blake Shelton and Miranda Lambert are getting divorced, dozens of rumors have surfaced about what may have caused the country couple to split.
We've also heard that Blake's drinking had gotten out of hand, that Miranda decided she doesn't want kids, and that their hectic work schedules prevented the country mega-stars from spending any time together.
Whatever the case, it now seems that Blake was the one to call it quits, and the legal proceeding have been anything buy amicable.
In Touch Weekly has obtained legal documents showing that Blake filed for divorce without Miranda's knowledge.
Even more shocking is the fact that Blake's lawyers requested a "protective order" from the court.
In all likelihood, the order was intended to safeguard Blake's property in case Miranda decided to leave her mark or take any souvenirs while packing up her things on the couple's Oklahoma ranch.
Still, it serves as an indication that this was not a case of two people gradually drifting apart, and suggests that some sort of ugly incident prompted the divorce.
We may never know for sure, but we are talking two country singers here. Maybe the truth will eventually come out in song form.
