Saturday Night Live great and Brooklyn Nine-Nine star Andy Samberg will host the 2015 Emmy Awards later this year, according to media reports.

It’s great cross-promotion for Fox, on which the hilarious Samberg stars on the aforementioned sitcom, will carry the Emmys this fall for the first time.

Michael Bolton will not be joining him … we don’t think. Sadly.

Academy of Television Arts & Scienes chairman and CEO Bruce Rosenblum said in a statement announcing the annual gala’s new host:

“It’s wonderfully fitting that we have Andy Samberg, an Emmy Award winner himself, as our host for this year’s Primetime Emmy Awards."

The 36-year-old Samberg, he said, "has excelled in all aspects of the television universe, both from behind and in front of the camera.”

“Buckle your seat belts, Emmy viewers!” Samberg Tweeted.

“Like, in general you should buckle your seat belts in your car. In fact, even if you’re not an Emmy viewer, you should buckle your seat belt," he clarified.

"It can be dangerous on the road," after all.

"Also, if you’re not an Emmy viewer, you should strongly consider becoming one this week, because I’m hosting, and it’s gonna be a wild ride."

"So buckle your seat belts.”

Consider them buckled.

Andy follows in the footsteps of Seth Meyers, another SNL alum who served as MC last year. Take a look at some fun 2014 Emmy highlights below …
